IRON FIST Star Jessica Henwick Says She's "Torn" About Potentially Reprising Colleen Wing Role In The MCU

Iron Fist ended on a major cliffhanger for Colleen Wing, but The Matrix Resurrections star Jessica Henwick has admitted she has mixed feelings about potentially reprising the role in the MCU one day...

While Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. no longer appear to be canon following the events of WandaVision, a lot of questions remain when it comes to the Marvel Television shows that streamed on Netflix. Marvel Studios has started to bring back certain characters from them, but whether they'll keep their respective histories remains to be seen for now.

We recently heard that Marvel Studios eyed Iron Fist star Jessica Henwick for a role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, but she decided to instead star in The Matrix Resurrections

Was the actress asked to return as Colleen Wing or another character? That's yet to be revealed, but Henwick recently told SYFY that she has mixed feelings about playing Colleen again. "I'm so torn...on the one hand yes, because I loved her and I put so much work into her. And she is one of those characters I tried to protect so hard. I felt really passionate about her story."

"So yes, I would love to revisit her and get back into her head. On the other hand, we left her in a great place," Henwick continued. "She's paired up with Misty, she's got that going on, she's got her powers, she seems to be good at it. She's living her best life. And I know if we bring her back, we have to bring her into conflict. I just want her to have her happy ending."

If Marvel Studios were to do something with Colleen, it's hard to say if the hero would still have the power of the Iron Fist. There's not a huge demand among fans to see more of Finn Jones' Danny Rand, but the character himself is one with potential and it would be a shame not to redo his origin.

Are you hoping for more of Henwick's Daughter of the Dragon in the MCU?

She was good in the role but lets not make Iron Fist canon. The show sucked and Finn Jones was terrible

@RokoVII - Maybe bring her back as a variant then. Let's not deprive the MCU of Jessica Henwick.

Only logical thing I can think of to bring her back in is...

If anyone needs a soft reboot, it's Iron Fist lol. Gotta give him his actual mask and a fiery hand. Not a glowstick

Just don't bring her as Iron Fist. Keep Netflix Iron Fist non canon

@GodHercules20 - It will all depend if Daredevil and Kingpin are variants or not. If they are the same, it means Daredevil met that Iron Fist.

Wouldn't these most recent No Way Home and Hawkeye developments certify her as already being in the MCU, or are we moving the goalposts again?

What about Wandavision made Agents of Shield not cannon? I genuinely don’t remember.

@suitekid - the darkbold looked different. Thats it

@bkmeijer - And to quote WandaVision director Matt Shakman: "Yes, we designed it anew. We didn't look at the other Darkholds that had been designed. It is part of the Marvel Universe though, so I would imagine it's the same book".

@Kyos - Yes, it's the same book on AoS as on WandaVision. Of course it's going to look different after Agatha has been using it for a while. Josh Wilding here needs to get over the fact that Agents of SHIELD is canon -- he keeps pushing for it not to be. AoS splits off onto a different timeline when they go to the future in season 5 and return to a different 2018 than the main MCU's, one in which Quake didn't crack the Earth in half and Thanos didn't snap (so outside of the 14M futures Dr Strange saw). Robin even says at the end of the big fight in the last episode of season 5 that it's different from the timeline she knew her entire life. Where is the TVA? No idea. Maybe they allowed it, maybe it exists after the timeline split at the end of Loki. Point is: Agents of SHIELD is canon, Josh Wilding. Agent Carter is canon. Daredevil is canon. Free your mind already.

@bkmeijer - Bruce Banner looks different than he used to also, does that make the Incredible Hulk non canon
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 12/20/2021, 9:58 AM
@Will44482 - no. Same with Rhodey. Guess it wouldn't matter, but those left for different circumstances

One word: variant. I think we can assume every Marvel TV and Netflix character has its story take place in a different timeline from the main MCU. That way those stories are not affected, and we still get to keep these great castings

She looks so much better with the longer hair, the short blue hair just doesn’t work for me. 🤷‍♂️

Even after a multiversal movie that literally brings in characters from other film franchises, Josh still has trouble grasping the canon concept. Its all canon. Just different universes/timelines, if the characteers are not part of the main MCU timeline (we will find out on Wednesday whether the Netflix shows are part of the 616 timeline).

If Marvel chooses to reuse Colleen, it will be with Henwick.

I rather see her as a new mcu character.

I get what she means. The likelyhood of the Defenders characters coming back are high that they'll be 616 versions and not the ones they played since 2015, which would make them Variants.

IMO the best way to solve this is by doing a massive convergence once the main Kang threat in a future Avengers film is dealt with, Crisis on Infinite Earths style. (Both the comic book and the Arrowverse take would be fine)

I thought she was very good along with all the other actors and actresses involved in these wonderful Netflix shows. I’d bring them all back in an instant.

Bring her and Misty back for a proper Heroes for Hire show. On the fence about Finn Jones...he was alright when other writers handled him, not so great in his own show.

And then considering the social pressures of today, not sure if they could even recast for the 'typical' Iron Fist look anyway. Either way, hope they can figure out how to bring back all the characters from Netflix era in some way.
