There were a few mentions of Daredevil throughout the course of Luke Cage season two and those made it clear that the world still believes the hero died beneath that collapsed building when he went to war with Elektra and The Hand. However, it appears as if it will be Iron Fist which really deals with Matt Murdock's absence before the Man Without Fear inevitably returns in a third season in 2019.
"Season 2 furthers the transformation of Danny," reads the official synopsis, "a character with a fish out of water coming of age story making his way in a harsh new world, battling to work out who he is. This season, Danny has promised that with Matt Murdock gone, he will step up and protect his city. But a sinister plot twist threatens his very identity and he must conquer his villains to protect the town and people he holds close to his heart." With any luck, that means he'll finally suit up!
After all, Danny's transformation into Iron Fist is long overdue, especially as the character's first season failed to transform him from the person who fled K'un-Lun to the superhero we all know and love from the comic books. With Daredevil gone, Danny now has the opportunity to step up and that's hopefully going to happen here (especially now that Scott Buck is no longer in charge of the Marvel series).
