JESSICA JONES Will Feature That Scene From The ALIAS Comic

After Daredevil it was pretty obvious that Marvel were going more adult with their Netflix projects, but surely nobody expected the Jessica Jones TV show to depict this one particularly graphic moment from the comics. Be warned, some mild SPOILERS ahead...

The first reactions to the Jessica Jones pilot screening at NYCC made it clear that Marvel wasn't shying away from the darker, more mature elements of Brian Michael Bendis' source material - but now we have details of one scene in particular that's sure to surprise or even shock most fans.

When we first meet Jones in the Alias comic she's engaging in... well, let's just say a very specific sex act with Luke Cage. It's become an infamous moment, with fans joking that as adult as Marvel seemed to be going with their Netflix shows, there was no way that scene would make it to the screen. Yeah... it did! Here's the breakdown courtesy of Vulture.

Smash cut to Luke on top of Jessica in his bed, going at it with a sexual fury unlike anything Marvel (or DC, for that matter) has even come close to putting on screen. She eggs him on, and when he warns her that she might not be able to take it, she insists she can. At that point, he flips her over and starts taking her from behind while the camera focuses on her impassioned face. It's a scene where Jessica is in total control of her sexuality. Whatever her reason may be for banging Luke, she's doing it on her terms. It's the way real-life grown-ups have sex, not the way neutered TV superheroes do. The audience at Comic Con seemed to simultaneously clutch its pearls and lean forward in titillated fascination.

It's not clear whether or not Jones and Cage are doing exactly what they did in the comic, but either way it sounds like a very graphic scene indeed. It doesn't seem like they're going to be toning down just how twisted David Tennant's Kilgrave is either, as Vulture's report also suggests that he'll be using his mind control powers to commit at least 2 rapes. Really excited for this show. I loved what Bendis did with ALIAS. But I hope the writers and actors put THIER mark on it. I feel Lille the Netflix Marvel stuff is more my speed, the movies are a bit too much "kid and play" if you know what I mean.

Haha, Jeph Loeb gives no [frick]s. Before the screening at NYCC he even said, "Anyone who brought their children to this, I'm sorry. You knew what you were getting them into."

In HappyHater's defense, if I had kids I wouldn't want to have them watch graphic sex in a TV show.

But I'd also be smart enough not to let my kids watch a TV-MA program.
