Loki is expected to take us on a trip through the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of the Multiverse, and that has to mean it will somehow tie into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. How much remains to be seen, but with the Time Variance Authority keeping a close eye on the MCU, chances are they'll have something to say about the Scarlet Witch tearing her way through the Multiverse on the hunt for her children.
Michael Waldron is Loki's head writer and also penned the script for the Doctor Strange sequel, so can we look forward to any sort of crossover?
"That would just be crazy conjecture," the writer told Total Film. "All of these stories, in their own way, are interconnected, and have ramifications. I think that certainly our aim with the Loki series was for it to have wide-reaching ramifications across the MCU moving forward. So, you know, was I having to clean up some of the messes that I made [with Loki]? Maybe so."
It feels like we're going to see something that ties the two movies together, but time will tell what that is.
The magazine also asked Tom Hiddleston about the chances of a Loki season two, and he chose his words very carefully. "At this point, I have learned that for me to have any expectations is futile and a fool’s errand. Having said goodbye to the character once, twice, three times, I do not know what the future holds. But I’m excited to find out. I think we could never have seen 10 years ahead."
"However, that would be to underestimate the intelligence of Kevin Feige!" Hiddleston continued. "Maybe he did see into the future, and he predicted all this, and, in fact, he works for the TVA, and reality is unfolding as it should, and we’re all just along for the ride..."
There have been rumblings for a long time that a second season of Loki is planned, and it's possible that at least some of that has already been shot! Ultimately, we'll have to wait and see, but there's a lot to think about here.
