Variety is reporting that Marvel Studios' upcoming Disney+ series,
Loki, has cast relative newcomer Sophia Di Martino in a mysterious role opposite leading man Tom Hiddleston, who will reprise his role as the fan-favorite antihero.
While any enchanting plot details remain under lock-and-key, the series is rumored to follow the version of Loki that managed to escape his fate, with the Space Stone in tow, in the alternate timeline created in Marvel's
Avengers: Endgame earlier this year.
Kate Herron (
Sex Education;
Daybreak) is helming the six-episode first season with Michael Waldron (
Rick & Morty) attached as show creator and executive producer. He also penned the pilot.
Production is expected to commence at the beginning of next year.
The British actress is best known for her starring role on the Channel 4 series
Flowers and her more recent credits include Danny Boyle's
Yesterday and the FX series
Into the Badlands.
Loki is slated to start streaming exclusively on Disney+ in Spring 2021.
