Loki remains one of Marvel Studios' best TV shows and expectations are high for season 2 to deliver the same sort of surprises and game-changing reveals as its predecessor.
Very little has been revealed about the series, though it looks like Loki, Mobius, and Sylvie will be tasked with regaining control over the Multiverse after the Sacred Timeline was allowed to freely branch off into countless alternate realities. Just like in season 1, we're banking on seeing a lot of Variants and new characters.
In this feature, we've rounded up a handful of alternate reality heroes and villains along with other unexpected names from the God of Mischief's corner of the Marvel Universe. Why? Well, we think all of them could add a lot to the show, whether it's a brief cameo or to better flesh out the Multiverse.

8. Sylene
We've met Sylvie, but what about Sylene? She's Loki's daughter from an alternate timeline and we'd like to see her introduced as his and Sylvie's possible future daughter should their romance continue.
Like her father, she's a full-blown baddie, so the two Variants realising their love could lead to the creation of a dangerous new threat to the world might be enough for them to tragically decide there's no way they can ever be together (which, let's face it, might actually be for the best).
A villain in the pages of Avengers Next, her appearance could also lead to us seeing a crazy new take on the next generation of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
7. Hulk-Loki
This beefed-up version of Loki doesn't have much in the way of comic book history, but after his brief appearance as one of the Variants pruned by the TVA prior to season 1, we'd love to see more of him in the next batch of episodes.
Loki prides himself on being smarter than, well, everyone, so a Variant who just smashes things would be quite the departure from the norm.
After what happened when Loki last crossed paths with The Hulk, the two characters being combined...well, it's a bonkers enough idea to actually work. With the Sacred Timeline no more, there's a very real possibility we'll witness Hulk-Loki in action.
6. Ikol
A creation of Kieron Gillen's during his stellar Journey Into Mystery run, Ikol was a magpie inhabited by the soul of the original, villainous version of Loki who died during the Siege comic book event.
He served as a confidant of sorts to Kid Loki and was ultimately revealed to be pulling the boy's strings to ensure he could return to the land of the living. Loki's lead Variant has proven himself quite the hero and appears to have found redemption, similar to the Earth-616 version who died at Thanos' hands.
There are always others out there capable of manipulating him, though, and the concept could be adapted in any number of ways, whether it's with Richard E. Grant's classic Loki or even the one who died in Avengers: Infinity War.
5. Morwen
Loki's been a busy man over the years and it was in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man that we first learned he has a human daughter called Tess. Unfortunately, an ancient being known as Morwen ended up finding her way back to Earth and possessed the woman due to her Godly blood.
Morwen is a pretty obscure villain (with only a handful of appearances on the page), but is also someone who might make an interesting foe for the God of Mischief, even if it's just for an episode or two.
As we established with Sylene, the idea of Loki having a daughter has serious potential and Tess is another direction to take the idea in. Morwen could even be an ancient force similar to Alioth unleashed by Kang for his own nefarious means.
4. Thori
Thori is a hellhound the God of Mischief met in Hel and, after freeing him, they became unexpected allies. Able to speak and a big fan of murder, Thori now serves a new master - Thor - and was one of the most memorable parts of Jason Aaron's Thor run.
You might think that this would be too weird for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Marvel Studios has already introduced a few members of the "Pet Avengers," including that unexpected appearance from Throg during Loki season 1.
It's possible Thori will be revealed as the God of Thunder's pet pooch from a couple of thousand years back, though we'd like to see him somehow brought into the present-day MCU as well.
3. Catface Loki
Talking of animals, in the pages of The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl in 2015, Loki transformed himself into a cat and dubbed himself "Cat Thor." It was all a bit weird, but just another way the God of Mischief toyed with the Odinson.
This certainly doesn't need to be a major part of an upcoming episode, but this would definitely be one of those wacky, Rick and Morty-esque moments the series has delivered in the past.
An appearance from "Catface Loki" would by no means have to be a huge moment in season 2, but it's definitely still something many fans out there would love to see happen in live-action. Plus, the comics have already confirmed the villain is, in fact, a cat person!
2. Ultimate Thor
The Phase 1 Marvel Studios movies were heavily influenced by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch's The Ultimates, and we're keen to visit a world as reality-based as that.
In the Ultimate Universe, Loki fooled everyone into thinking Thor was an escaped mental patient who had stolen technology he'd created (in his human guise), and this all led to the Asgardian being placed behind bars. Ultimately, the truth was revealed, but why not revisit the concept in season 2?
Chris Hemsworth making a cameo appearance in the Disney+ series is unlikely, but also unnecessary. Meeting a Thor played by another actor - hopefully, a surprise A-Lister - who's obviously just a bonkers dude under the belief he's the God of Thunder would be a unique and no doubt very funny scenario to place Loki in.
1. Immortus
We had to mention at least one Kang Variant here and properly introducing Immortus is a must after Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania's largely confusing post-credits scene.
He's clearly in charge of the Council of Kangs and, after Kang the Conqueror's death, appears to be the planned big bad for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. We need to know more about his plans and a cameo role here to better explain where the Multiverse Saga is heading would be appreciated.
If Marvel Studios plans to move on from Jonathan Majors given the actor's recent controversies, then this could even be an opportunity to somehow eliminate the Council of Kangs, establishing a different threat to the Multiverse in the process.
