Today's episode of Loki kicks off with the God of Mischief waking up in The Void, where he finds himself being helped by three Variants: Classic Loki, Kid Loki, and Boastful Loki. They need to flee as a giant creature who appears to be made from purple smoke is fast approaching, and Classic Loki reveals that it's an entity known as Alioth. Back in the TVA, Renslayer doesn't have the answers Sylvie wants and is unaware of who is really in charge of the organisation. The Judge reveals that Loki has been transported to a Void at the end of time where branched timelines and Variants are transferred upon being pruned. Renslayer agrees to help Sylvie travel to The Void, but "Lady Loki" quickly figures out that she's being lied to, and prunes herself after being surrounded by the Judge's men.

Loki has a lot of questions for his Variants and learns what led to them being pruned. Kid Loki murdered Thor, while Classic Loki actually managed to escape being killed by Thanos by disguising himself as a piece of debris and floating through space until he landed on a quiet planet where he lived for a long time before deciding to return to his brother's side because he was lonely (it was at that moment the TVA appeared). Alioth has the power to wipe out anything and everything that enters its domain, and these Lokis have spent a long time hiding from it. Heading back to Kid Loki's base (he's in charge), the God of Mischief decides he's had enough and takes off...only to be confronted by President Loki and his followers. Sylvie, meanwhile, arrives in The Void and is pursued by Alioth, briefly catching a glimpse of a mysterious castle before a car pulls up and helps get her to safety. The driver? It's Mobius! He also survived being pruned.

As for President Loki, it's revealed that Boastful Loki betrayed Kid Loki in exchange for being named ruler of The Void. The President, however, isn't on board with that and intends to take over himself, but is promptly betrayed by his fellow Variants! Alligator Loki has had enough and proceeds to bite off the villain's hand, while our Loki is able to make his escape alongside the Classic, Kid, and Alligator Variants after everyone starts fighting each other.

They agree to help Loki, and it's then Sylvie and Mobius appear. She's figured out that Alioth is just a "guard dog" protecting the person beyond The Void at the end of time, and she's going to enchant the beast in order to help them break-in. In the TVA, Renslayer interrogates Hunter B-15 and asks Miss Minutes to get her the files on the founding of the group because she wants to find whoever created them to warn of the impending danger they're facing. Mobius and Classic Loki ponder whether Alligator Loki really is a Loki, while Loki and Sylvie grow closer; they're clearly not ready to share their feelings for each other, but there's a bond there, and he vows not to betray her. Mobius returns to the TVA to "burn it to the ground" after an emotional farewell, while Kid Loki presents Loki with Laeveteinn.

He and Sylvie attempt to enchant Alioth together, but it's a well-timed distraction from Classic Loki - who uses his powers to recreate Asgard - that ensures they're able to take control of the creature. With a final cry of "Glorious Purpose" and a classic Loki laugh, he's wiped from existence, but Alioth has been defeated and the path to that castle (which looks a lot like it could be in the Quantum Realm) is finally clear...

@Mercwitham0uth - same. We shall probably never know the context, but it is a fun inclusion

Even I could see more variants. Maybe Thor and Loki.

That episode was... a lot. Gotta let it sink in for a moment, but the clear MVPs imo were Aligator Loki and Classic Loki.

@Kyos - ive watched it twice. I played even better the 2nd time!

Hiddleston wasn’t lying when he said 4&5 were spectacular. 5 is even more so but 4 is still pretty close. Also I kinda hope Classic Loki’s alive 🥲

CGI was spectacular tho.

Man such a good episode. Ill admit I actually got teary eyed a little bit when mobius and Loki hugged. I never thought Owen Wilson and Tom Hiddleston would work so well together but they do and if season 2 does happen Wilson better stick around.

Plus classic Loki was [frick]ing amazing too. When marvel announced they were making tv shows this is the kind of quality I wanted.

@IcePyke - Wow, that is Yellow-Jacket’s helmet, isn’t it? And we last saw him shrinking into nothingness, so what was left of him would have ended up in the Quantum Realm.

@Chewtoy - HOLY [frick]ING SHIT. You're right! That's Yellow Jackets helmet!!!!! They're in the Quantum Realm... which is where Chronopolis is.

@tugboy - My thoughts were in this line too. To my understanding time and space would include "size", which are totally irrelevant when quantum physics are involved

Remember in Ant-Man and the Wasp we had a quantum city deleted scene.

@globaltravels - Yellowjacket's helmet doesn't necessarily mean they're in the Quantum Realm. It could just mean there's a timeline where Yellowjacket did something he wasn't supposed to and got pruned.

@IcePyke - it was confirmed that yellowjacked will come back. I bet it's Kang in that castle

These have been really fun episodes, and I can’t wait to see who ends up being revealed next week. I will say that I’m not really feeling the chemistry between Loki and Sylvie, which is a shame, but I’m more than willing to go along with it for the adventure.

@Chewtoy - I think the whole point of Loki and Sylvie is they’re not meant to feel each other’s chemistry, like it feels wrong, and that’s such a brilliant thing to play on in terms of character dynamics.

I was kind of bummed out when President Loki only showed up for 5 minutes… I thought that was gonna be MCU Loki rocking a mixup of his MCU look and TVA look lol

Overall, I think the villain is gonna be someone we’ve not seen. I don’t think it’s gonna be Kang or a Loki variant. I think it’ll be a very Wizard of Oz moment where he’s just some random sad little being trying to manipulate the surroundings around him.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - Yeah I'm not building up any hype for the villain. I'm more excited/concerned about what Loki/Sylvie's place in the MCU will be going forward.

Loki quickly became my favorite MCU show and it was my least anticipated. Which is not a knock on WandaVision or Falcon and W/S. Loki has been a surprising and delightful ride so far. I hope Kate Herron and Michael Waldron hang around Marvel for a while longer.

@JoeInTheBox - let's be honest; LOKI is on another level in terms of quality.

Am I the only one here that just isn’t really feeling Loki in this show? I love the visuals, I love the world building, I like the characters, basicly I like everything except Loki in this. He doesn’t feel like Avengers 1 Loki at all, sure he has seen memories of things that haven’t happend to him yet. But I don’t know. He feels like a major push over. Not a villian at all. Not powerful at all. I like the show and I love his chemistry with Sylvie. But it doesn’t feel like Loki.
Kyos
Kyos - 7/7/2021, 5:18 AM
@MarcianooM - But the Avengers 1 Loki wasn't actually that impressive a villain to begin with. I mean, he was ultimately a glorified henchman. He had 1-2 Infinity Stones and an alien army, and still was primarily a threat to ordinary humans. Pretty much every Avenger outsmarted or out-muscled him at some point.
KWilly
KWilly - 7/7/2021, 5:26 AM
@MarcianooM - I actually love Loki in this show. They're showing his soft side, and in a show that's basically a character study of him, it's necessary imo.

We know how he is as a villain. Now he's more than that.
JoeInTheBox
JoeInTheBox - 7/7/2021, 5:49 AM
@MarcianooM - What you're describing is character growth. He was only a villain because of feeling like an outcast, never belonging. Should he be redeemed for all the death and misery he caused? Who knows, but I'm enjoying watching him try, nonetheless.

The power part of it, is explained for not working within the TVA, and he's also without the Tesseract and sceptre which the Avengers-era Loki relied on a lot.
OmegaEffect
OmegaEffect - 7/7/2021, 7:29 AM
@MarcianooM - I agree. Did you like classic loki? He was really powerful. Energy projection. Creating portals. He needed to have flight
ability though
