LOKI Star DeObia Oparei Weighs In On A Possible Season 2 Or MCU Return As Boastful Loki (Exclusive)

Everyone is getting excited about tomorrow's Loki finale, with the hope being we'll finally get some answers about whoever is really pulling the strings of the Time Variance Authority. It seems unlikely that the Variants we met in "Journey Into Mystery" will return, though it would be a shame if they're not somehow freed from The Void alongside the God of Mischief and Sylvie.

DeObia Oparei made an impact as Boastful Loki in that penultimate instalment, but could he make his return after that intense battle with President Loki and the followers that betrayed him?

"Listen, I’m just going to say, Tom did say to me, ‘Lokis don’t die.’ He did! [Laughs]" the actor tells us in the video below, careful not to give too much away.

As for whether Boastful Loki is a character he hopes to come back to, DeObia added: "Sure, yeah! I would love to come back...I have no idea where they’re going or what they intend to do, but moving forward with all my projects...most or all of the roles I’ve played have been heterosexual or heteronormative, so to be in such an iconic role and that for it to be revealed that [Loki] is genderfluid and bisexual, it seems so in synchronicity with who I am and where I am, especially with the door that’s open now in our culture where we’re asking questions, opening up and saying, ‘Everyone has to be included at this table.’"

You can check back here tomorrow for the full interview, as well as a much deeper insight into what it means to DeObia to play a character like Loki so soon after coming out last year. Clearly, he's excited to potentially explore the character on a much deeper level, and with his Variant's past such a mystery to us (did he really gain all six Infinity Stones?), there's still more story to tell here.

Make sure to track DeObia down on Twitter @DeObia and Instagram @deobia.oparei (where he's recently shared plenty of fun behind-the-scenes content from the Disney+ series since making his MCU debut), and keep checking into ComicBookMovie.com for much more on Loki following the finale!

I don't think we saw him die (and even then death rarely means something in the movies), so I could see him return. Even if its just to tell more untrue stories

Honestly, I love this guy's spirit about all of this, and I'd want boastful loki back just for him (though his character is quite good as well).

In the second season, we will see an unstoppable variant of Thor. It would be great.

Was it ever explained why he has a hammer that looks a bit like Mjolnir but isn't?

@528491 - My personal theory is that, being "Boastful" Loki, he made it to claim that he was worthy. I've also seen allusions to the legend of John Henry which, while cool, probably aren't very likely.

He's such a fun actor who deserves bigger parts. Hopefully he gets a chance to return in the MCU, because Boastful Loki was great. His personality would really liven up Loki Season 2. (Or a potential Exiles team)
