"Journey Into Mystery" ended with Richard E. Grant's Classic Loki finding his "Glorious Purpose" and making the ultimate sacrifice to buy Loki and Sylvie the time they needed to defeat Alioth.
However, one of the show's writers, Eric Martin, recently took to Twitter to share some insight into the work that went into the episode, including a very different conclusion which would have seen all the Variant Gods of Mischief coming together because they didn't want to be overshadowed.
It certainly would have been a humorous moment and one that might have made good use of those Variants, but focusing on Classic Loki feels like it was the right decision. After all, rather than playing this final battle for laughs, this older version of the trickster (who gave Loki some insight into what might have become of him had he survived that encounter with Thanos) sacrificing himself was far more poignant and ensured the character found some redemption.
We'd definitely recommend following Eric if you'd be interested in learning more about Loki as there are plenty of interesting reveals to be found on his Twitter account, including a fight with Throg.
