Loki's ascension to the throne of the God of Stories seems to be a fitting finish for the character, though Hiddleston has slyly indicated in separate interviews that he may be done with the role and that he may return to work with Chris Hemsworth's Thor in a future MCU film.
Whatever Loki Laufeyson's future holds, Thursday night TV viewing just got a whole lot emptier, with season 2 of the show now in the rearview mirror.
It seems Tom Hiddleston is also feeling that emptiness, as he took to Instagram to share a special message with his fans.
Did you enjoy Loki's second season, which shifted to a more Doctor Who-style emphasis on science fiction?
Loki season 2 picked up right where the dramatic season one conclusion left off, with Loki firmly planted at the center of a war for the soul of the Time Variance Authority (TVA).
Loki (Tom Hiddleston) crosses an ever-expanding and deadly cosmos in quest of Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), and Miss Minutes (Tara Strong), joined by Mobius (Owen Wilson), Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku), and a crew of both new and returning characters.
Season 2 of the God of Mischief's TVA adventures currently has an average critic aggregate score of 7.35 out of 10 and an approval rating of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes. Season one has an average critic aggregate score of 7.9 out of 10, with a 90% acceptance rating.
The showrunner/head writer for the God of Mischief/God of Stories' second season is Eric Martin, who replaced season one showrunner, Michael Waldron. He is an American writer and producer who has previously contributed to sci-fi television shows like Alphas and The Strain, as well as the first season of Loki.
Prior to season 2's release, Martin teased that the second season of Loki would be "more character-driven" and "more ambitious" than the first, while also taking a deeper dive into the multiverse.
Do you think Martin knocked it out of the park with a tighter narrative? Or do you feel as if the more episodic nature of season 1 makes for better TV viewing? Let us know in the comment section below.
