Earlier this week,
we were introduced to the next generation of Marvel heroes in
Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors. A trailer for the upcoming animated feature brought together a "ragtag, untrained band of teens" who will ultimately rise together and become Marvel's most diverse team of heroes yet.
Although some of these heroes were featured in the recent
Marvel Rising: Initiation series of animated shorts,
Secret Warriors will bring even more heroes into the mix. One of those heroes will be Inferno, a fiery teenager who's still struggling with his power of pyrokinesis. In the video below, actor Tylor Posey goes into a bit more depth about his character, whose real identity is Dante Pertuz, and what makes him unique and fun to play.
"He's really struggling with his identity and his powers - he doesn't seem like he wants," Posey reveals.
"His powers aren't really fully in control yet. He's still trying to figure out how to use them. He's kind of like a troubled kid which is really cool because I think it's relatable to kids, my age or younger. I've been through that stuff when I was younger."
Posey also enjoys the fact that he gets to represent his heritage through the character. Like the actor, Inferno is Hispanic. But that's only the tip of what makes Inferno interesting.
Dante Pertuz aka Inferno voiced by Tyler Posey (“Teen Wolf,” “Lincoln Heights”) – a brooding, dark loner on the run. Dante has the power of pyrokinesis, which makes him capable of generating flames – however, he is not fully in control of his fiery abilities. It’s a thin line between good guy and villain for the unpredictable Inferno.
Inferno will join a diverse super-team that also includes Ms. Marvel (Kathreen Khavari), Squirrel Girl (Milana Vayntrub), America Chavez (Cierra Ramirez), Quake (Chloe Bennet), Patriot (Kamil McFadden), and more.
Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors premieres Sunday, September 30 at 10:00 p.m. on Disney Channel and Disney XD. In the meantime, the full series of shorts for
Marvel Rising: Initiation can be watched online.
