In the closing moments of today's Moon Knight finale, we were finally introduced to Jake Lockley. Khonshu may have freed Marc and Steven, but Jake will continue to do the Moon God's bidding...and happily so. He clearly has a penchant for violence, and no qualms about brutally killing those who get in his way. The question is, how many times have we actually seen him in the series?

"We knew right from the beginning that fans were going to be on the lookout for references and clues that Jake Lockley is going to appear in the show," Head Writer Jeremy Slater tells Marvel.com. "[We focused on] everyone else who's totally unfamiliar with the character and the dynamic. We have to make sure that the mystery works as satisfying for the newcomers to the Moon Knight story."

"It was really just a balancing act that definitely involved my team of writers, but also involved the directors, the executives, and ultimately, all the way up to Kevin Feige, in terms of how many breadcrumbs are we dropping?" Slater added, explaining how they handled Jake's introduction. "Is this a satisfying reveal? Are we telegraphing it too much? Or are we not telegraphing enough?"

The site goes on to explain that in the first episode, the shot of split mirrors when Steven Grant wakes up after the truck chase shows a third reflection. In the second instalment, when Marc is talking to himself in the pyramid at the end of the episode, it's actually a broken three-sided pyramid. Apparently, that represents Jake being Marc's rage. Then, in the third, we see Marc and Steven both black out for the first time, and the fourth obviously features Jake trying to escape that sarcophagus.

Asked to detail his take on this third personality, Moon Knight star Oscar Isaac explained why he wanted to put a new spin on Jake Lockley. "I saw an opportunity to bring something of myself to it that's not just trying to pay service to some idea that was in the comics," he explains. "The thought of, ‘He's just going to have the one line that he speaks, it should be in Spanish.’"

"There's something that's ominous about him, the kind of control that he has versus, you know, both Marc and Steven that have been so off foot," the actor continues, stopping short of teasing Jake's future. "It just feels like it was just a really fun chance to let the instinct of, after having played these two guys, imagining what else could be in there and the excitement of shooting that scene."

Something tells us we'll see more of Jake Lockley before too long; whether he has his own suit remains to be seen, but we'd bet on him donning something more akin to what the Batman-like vigilante version of Moon Knight wears in the comic books. Marvel Studios has yet to announce season 2 plans, so fingers cross Isaac decides to make his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon.

Yes, because lockley is a very Spanish name.

@Origame - you do understand that it’s been established that his alters are named after other people right? And he’s SPEAKING Spanish. Anyone can speak Spanish, even if they aren’t Spanish.

Isaac is Spanish and it’s established Marc is half Latino given that his mother was.
MCUKnight11
MCUKnight11 - 5/4/2022, 2:24 PM
@GhostDog - I personally know a lot of Caucasian Americans who speak Spanish well.
Origame
Origame - 5/4/2022, 2:42 PM
@GhostDog - 1) yes. But he also bases his alters off of those people too. Such as Steven Grant being based off a British movie character. So he's basing his lockley character off of someone who speaks Spanish, which leads to the same problem.

2) I'd accept that if this wasn't literally the first thing we see him do. It's the only bit of characterization this character has. And it's not like this is some poetic thing against harrow since he spoke English and mandarin. So it has to be what his lockley character naturally speaks. Otherwise it makes no sense for him to speak it here.
GhostDog
GhostDog - 5/4/2022, 2:45 PM
@Origame - only other option is that the Lockley whom he named himself and based himself after is half Latino. Or it’s an alias.

@Origame - Geezus...give it a rest. Complaint after complaint after complaint.

This wasn't his only line either btw. Jake's personality came out in the psyche ward. He was the only one with a bandage across his nose. And in that scene he had a distinct New York accent.

Origame - 5/4/2022, 3:02 PM
@GhostDog - that would go against everything this show set up about how the personalities work. So you're probably right.

@Origame - Threw me off too. And I'm Latin AMerican and a native Spanish speaker myself, so, yeah. But guess I'll wait and see what they do with him -- Maybe they'll go full Benicio del Toro in SICARIO (well, not fully, because this is D+ and they tone everything down, but ou get the gist)

@Tonic24k - @Natebest this guy has been harassing me for a while now. He is currently going after me in three separate threads here. He's stated that he's not planning on stopping, and you can even see that he admits to doing it to others on this site.
Tonic24k
Tonic24k - 5/6/2022, 12:24 PM
@Origame - @Natebest - And this dude calls me an idiot for not agreeing with him. I, for the record, have never called this person a name. The community would agree he trolls every MCU article. I simply challenge his negativity just as others do. There is a large group of us that enjoy the MCU and like to come here to have fun conversation about it. Origame here is a CONSTANT nuisance to us fans just seeking to discuss these films and tv shows. It's his reputation here and it should certainly be addressed.

If someone has ONLY negative things to say about something...that's just blatant trolling. The community reception is clear as day.

Also, I'm not "going after" him or anyone else. I merely express how I disagree and it becomes debate. And on some occasions it results in this person insulting me.

I think the easiest solution is for this person to cease his trolling. We could block him, sure. But then he just continues complaining on every MCU article and the problem doesn't go away. And then the complainer culture here just perpetuates and gets in the way of decent people here just trying to be fans and not deal with incessant negativity.

I'm here to cooperate with the ordeal.

@Tonic24k - you mean like the two threads here where I'm not even the guy who started saying those negative things and was responding to other people who had those same problems with it I do?

As I've told you before, and am making my case clear here for @Natebest, I have my right to express my feelings on any movie or show here, whether positive or negative. And if it bothers him so much he should just block me.

He refused to just block me, and while I'll admit to calling him names, it has only ever been due to his harassment. You can see I never go to him over anything. He's always coming after me and is very persistent on this.

NateBest - 5/6/2022, 12:41 PM
@Tonic24k - Says they don't insult anyone, but started the discussion by telling someone else to "grow up"...

The fact that YOU don't agree with someone's comment does NOT automatically make it trolling.

Sharing something negative does NOT automatically make it trolling, nor does questioning something.

The original comment by @Origame was just fine - "Yes, because lockley is a very Spanish name." I don't see any issues with the discussion between other users either, but for some reason you (@Tonic24k) have decided to take issue with it.

Learn to live with each other, block each other, or I can disable you both. Pick your poison.

@NateBest - We're not talking about JUST this thread, Nate. We're talking about every post and every comment he makes across all MCU articles. If this person wasn't considered a troll by just about everyone here, the "Spanish name" comment wouldn't have been any kind of issue. But within context, it's yet ANOTHER trolling moment for him.

And yes, I told him to grow up. That's not an insult, that is encouraging someone to be better. However, calling me an idiot is a direct insult. The problem is, he conveniently tagged you on a thread that isn't the thread he did this. But he admitted to it so let's take action on that.

Feel free to see how others feel about this dude. It's not good. And while expressing yourself is a privilege we all have, it shouldn't be so unchecked where people can just be a perpetual nuisance and hide behind the "I'm allowed to say what I want" bit.

A lot of people love this site. I'm kindly asking you that we do a better job of policing the folks that make it a bad experience.
NateBest
NateBest - 5/6/2022, 2:25 PM
@Tonic24k - You honestly don't see how telling someone to "grow up" can be insulting? You expect me to believe that the intention behind your comment was to encourage them to do better? You're joking, right?

The only complaint I've seen or received as of late for this particular user is from you (and it was unjustified).

"In Context" his comment was 100% valid and even acknowledged by other users stating it threw them off. YOU are the one who chose to respond to it.

If you see a comment that you feel breaks the code of conduct or rules for the site, feel free to report it. All reported comments are reviewed by staff and proper action is taken from there if needed. You can also tag me in the thread (something as simple as "Hey @NateBest - is this appropriate?").

Note, however, that *false* reporting is also a punishable offense...
Tonic24k
Tonic24k - 5/6/2022, 2:37 PM
@NateBest - Again, convenient that we're not talking on another thread where he called me an idiot. THAT is an insult. Telling someone to grow up is something a mature person tells an immature person when they're being obnoxious. So, no I'm not joking. In fact, there are other threads where I've legitimately encouraged him to be more positive and enjoy what the CBMs are giving us.

"In context", like I originally said, this isn't a lone issue. The comment by itself isn't a problem. It's when the person has a reputation for complaining about every little thing and then ALSO chimes in with more complaining.

But yeah man, I'll keep you abreast to the overall issue.

The little we saw of him was cool, but it kinda makes other parts of the series worse, like the fact steven and marc were judged separately on the ship but jake wasn't, and neither marc nor steven seemed to care much about their blackouts and the mountain of dead people they left behind themselves. He should have been fully introduced instead of just getting a tease at the end imo.
