We're expecting a new look at Moon Knight to be released during this year's Super Bowl, and after that crazy first teaser, fans are understandably anxious to see more from the Disney+ series.
Well, thanks to Disney Latino (via The Cosmic Circus), we potentially have some new intel about the MCU's take on this character. Details shared by the site reveal that "[Steven] Grant suffers from dissociative identity disorder, a psychological pathology he discovers after having flashes from another life. From there, the mercenary Marc Spector, a parallel identity in him, begins to manifest."
That lines up with what we've seen in the trailers, of course, but the site goes on to confirm that in Moon Knight, "[Khonshu] negotiates with Marc to become the bearer of his powers on Earth. Spector, who in those circumstances was already a former military officer, former CIA agent, and still worked as a mercenary, is abandoned by his companions during a mission and the Egyptian deity appears there to save his life."
Again, this lines up closely with the comic books, but where things get particularly interesting is with the news that Marc's abilities include "Olympic-level athletism, capable of performing complex acrobatics, a talented combat strategist and a great variety of weapons." Things get a little less conventional with the mention that the moon itself influences the hero's powers, while it's also suggested that he'll have visions of the future.
As expected, Marvel Studios is embracing the supernatural side of this character rather than heading down the vigilante route, hence why we're getting what sounds like a suitably wacky take on Marc Spector. Moving forward, Marvel Studios also plans to introduce the likes of Blade and Werewolf-by-Night, so it definitely makes sense to insert Moon Knight into this particular corner of the MCU.
Moon Knight arrives on Disney+ on March 30.
