SECRET INVASION Star Emilia Clarke On Her New Comic Series M.O.M. & Her Favorite Movie, DEADPOOL

Shortly after we got the news that Emilia Clarke had joined the cast of Marvel's Secret Invasion Disney+ series, it was announced that the Game of Thrones star also has a new Image Comics miniseries on the way.

Co-written by Clarke and Marguerite Bennett (Angela, Bombshells), M.O.M.: Mother of Madness follows a single parent named Maya who gains superpowers and uses them to take on a secret cabal of human traffickers. The twist? Those powers only manifest themselves... at a certain time of the month!

While speaking to SFX, Clarke touched on some of the movies/shows she drew inspiration from, and revealed that Maya's fourth wall-breaking is directly inspired by a certain Merc With a Mouth.

"Deadpool is my favourite movie! Deadpool is so good, and I really want to be Ryan Reynolds so badly!" Clarke told the mag. "You also have Fleabag, House Of Cards and, dare I say it, Shakespeare [doing this]. It's quite fun having Maya talk to the person who is actually reading the book; it gets to live outside of time, which I really like."

We still don't know who Clarke will play in Secret Invasion (Abigail Brand is one possibility), but with Reynolds' Wade Wilson soon set to officially join the MCU with Deadpool 3, there's always a chance they might cross paths at some point in the future.

M.O.M. has an all-female creative team behind it, including illustrator Leila Leiz, contributor Isobel Richardson, and cover artist Jo Ratcliffe. The first issue is set to hit shelves on July 21.

Her comic MOM is about a woman that only has super power when she’s on her period and swings like Spider-Man from buildings by her armpit hair. No joke.

@AnthonyVonGeek - You severely left out fetails like having many powers tied to her emotions, but sure.

Yeah, Reynolds is definitely gold as the character. The little time he actually got to be Wade in X-men Origins Wolverine showed just how good he was at balancing Wade's badassery and comedic wit.
