SECRET INVASION: What Is "The Harvest"? The Show's Latest Major Twist Explained - SPOILERS

The penultimate episode of Secret Invasion delivered another big surprise, this time relating to Nick Fury's post-Avengers: Endgame machinations and how that's led to Gravik's plan to take over Earth...

In Secret Invasion, Gravik has managed to harvest DNA samples belonging to Groot, Cull Obsidian, Frost Beasts, and Extremis soldiers in order to transform himself into a Super-Skrull.

Today's episode sees his people begin to turn on their unhinged leader, but his ultimate goal has started coming into focus. While Gravik and the Rhodey imposter are plotting to begin World War III by convincing President Ritson to attack New Skrullos in Russia, the villain also gives Nick Fury an ultimatum.

If the former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director brings the Harvest to him, he'll call off the attack and avoid plunging Earth into another global war.

So, what is the Harvest? Later in the episode, we learn that after the Battle of Earth in Avengers: Endgame, Fury sent a number of disguised Skrull operatives onto the battlefield to retrieve DNA samples of the blood spilt by the heroes that day.

As a result, Fury harvested samples from pretty much every single superhero who fought Thanos, including Captain Marvel. Gravik was among the Skrulls tasked with retrieving those and Secret Invasion's lead admits it was likely where the villain got the idea to turn himself into a Super-Skrull.

In other words, everything that's happened so far is Fury's fault and as the episode ends, he agrees to take the vial to Gravik but dons his trademark trenchcoat and eyepatch because the Nick Fury of old is finally back.

The fact Fury took those DNA samples is a good reminder of his duplicitous nature (don't forget what he did in The Avengers). However, if Gravik gets his hands on the Harvest, then he will be truly unstoppable and more powerful than every Avenger combined.

Needless to say, next week's Secret Invasion finale promises to be very exciting...

@PlusUltra - Let me guess, this is another Disney+ Marvel show in which episode 5 sets up so much that can't be resolved in just one more episode so they'll have to rush the finale again.

They found the DNA of almost all the heroes that fought on the Battle for Earth, and said "let's just mix them all in the same vial, what could go wrong?".

And that ended the threat of the Harvest.

Maybe it's a nod to the harvester of worlds? Lol *farts in the wind* so for the movie folks at home, we have reached the third act of this first draft of an abandoned movie. There's no way in hell they told someone to only write 6 episodes with an average runtime of 30 minutes, for a topic that should have entirely covered Phase 5 but I digress

@SpiderFanMan - Or there are people that genuinely want the MCU to be good, so they keep watching in hopes of it turning around.

Not everything has to be fanboys or haters.

@SpiderFanMan - You can be a fan of something and still be critical. It's actually healthy to not be a blind follower. If you only see in black and white, you're sadly naive.

@JoeInTheBox - I was refering to the same people who post the same thing every week, there's a difference between being critical and blind hating

Also, show me where I actually said the show was good? It isn't the best at all, that much is obvious, like I said there's a difference between critical and hate. You assumed I actually liked the show or wasn't critical just because I pointed out the OBVIOUS hate

You know what they say about people who assume...

@SpiderFanMan - I too was speaking in general, broad terms. I said it's possible to be a fan of something and still be critical of it. I was not speaking of trolls. Trolls will always be trolls.

Show me where I said you said it was good? You're the one doing the assuming here. I actually don't know how you feel about the show and that's not what I was replying to.

Episode was so-so.

Olivia Colman though! every scene that she's in is amazing. I also find her oddly attractive... not sure why.

So Gravik will have every powers, and will be using them on screen just to show off. That's where the $212,000,000 budget went: a cameo of powers.

I don't hate this show, don't love it but don't hate it. I like the idea that Fury collected DNA or whatever of the heroes after endgame and had kind of shady motives. Than it was all in one vial and I was "well why the [frick] would he do that!?!" I thought the idea was going to be "the world will always need an iron man" or some shit and it was going to be a weird cloning program, instead it's all in one vial? Hopefully thats not actually the Harvest and he's running a long game and we get a lost ark like final shot of a warehouse with vials.

For those who saying this show looks low budget. Where were you when Netflix Marvel shows aired? Those were below low budget, characters barley used their powers and scared of going fully comic book.

Netflix show shitted Iron Fist character to the core but no one cared cos he wasn't boring diet Batman in red suit.

This is low budget

I liked the episode and the reveal of the Harvest did reminds me what Fury's old ways still are present.

Excited to see the conclusion.
