Secret Invasion is now less than a week away from hitting Disney+ and critics were recently given the chance to watch the first two episodes.
Marvel Studios understandably wants to avoid spoilers leaking online weeks in advance, hence why only a third of the series was offered in advance (and even that includes some major shocks and surprises). With that in mind, the following Rotten Tomatoes score is a tad unreliable because, as things stand, a judgement hasn't been made on the entirety of the MCU espionage thriller.
Regardless, Secret Invasion has a respectable 70% score based on 34 reviews.
As a result, it's currently the lowest-rated Marvel Studios TV series on Disney+. The highest is Ms. Marvel with 98%, while She-Hulk: Attorney at Law sits right above this latest effort at 80%.
It's important to remember that additional reviews will be counted over the next week and even more when the premiere drops on Wednesday, June 21. Verdicts will continue to be added to Rotten Tomatoes on a weekly basis, meaning a definitive score won't be generated until six or seven weeks from now.
This isn't the best start, of course, but it seems many critics anticipated this being the MCU's Andor and were disappointed when it was more along the lines of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
"Secret Invasion is the MCU espionage thriller we’ve been waiting for," we said in our review of the first two instalments. "Samuel L. Jackson’s magnum opus as Nick Fury, the show delivers one jaw-dropping moment after another and quickly establishes itself as essential viewing for any Marvel fan."
Marvel Studios hasn't had the easiest time of it with critics during the Multiverse Saga, though Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was widely considered a return to form with 82%. Secret Invasion is a long way off "Rotten" territory and will need to reach 75% to be "Certified Fresh."
