When Jon Bernthal's Punisher pulled out a CD disc with Micro's name on it towards the end of Daredevil season 2, many viewers assumed that Frank's comic book sidekick was someone that he already knew in the Marvel Netflix Universe. It appears that's not the case.
Moviepilot got their hands on some media notes from Netflix which reveal that Micro and Frank will be meeting for the first time in the upcoming drama series. As revealed by the casting of Ebon Moss-Bachrach in the role, the show will depict Micro not as a balding, middle-aged hacker but as a former NSA analyst who faked his death and cut off all ties to his family in order to protect them.
He hides out in the basement of a power plant on Roosevelt Island and lives off the grid (while ironically living at the source for New York's power grid). The series begins with Micro reaching out to Castle as he believes the same threat that left him with no options but to fake his death are also the same folks Frank's currently targeting.
However, their first meeting goes sideways and the two get into a conflict that sees Frank reveal that he has a much higher level of tactical genius than what was shown in Daredevil season 2. Eventually, they work out their differences as Frank empathizes with Micro, who willingly cut himself off from his family to keep them safe.
The Punisher is currently playing a cat-and-mouse game with its release date but the prevailing school of thought is that the show will premiere in November.
In Marvel’s The Punisher, after exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.
