Khalil Rountree Jr. faces a massive uphill battle when he takes on reigning light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira in the main event of Saturday's UFC 307. To beat the odds, Rountree will have to find a way to succeed against arguably the most dangerous knockout artist in UFC history.
Pereira took just four UFC fights to elevate himself to elite status with a knockout win over Israel Adesanya to capture the middleweight championship. After dropping the belt in the rematch, Pereira moved to light heavyweight where he now holds four wins over former world champions, a title win and two successful title defenses.
With the UFC looking to get Pereira in the Octagon one more time before the end of the calendar year, No. 8 ranked contender Rountree got the call for an opportunity that exceeds his standing in the division. A dangerous striker in his own right, Rountree brings a five-fight winning streak, four by knockout, to Saturday's title challenge.
CBS Sports will be with you the entire way on Saturday bringing you all the results and highlights from the UFC 307 below. The main card begins at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN+ PPV following preliminary bouts at 8 ET.
