WandaVision put the spotlight on Wanda Maximoff's transformation into the Scarlet Witch, though fans were definitely shocked (and perhaps disappointed) to see her become a full-blown villain in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The Avenger managed to somewhat redeem herself once all was said and done, but her fate remains a mystery.
While a flash of red light seemed to suggest she had escaped being crushed beneath the Darkhold Castle on Mount Wundagore, Marvel Studios' future plans for Wanda are unclear.
There have been rumblings about a solo movie, of course, but The DisInsider is reporting that may no longer be the case. Apparently, there aren't any current plans for a big screen spin-off at this time, so unless Marvel Studios is mulling over a Scarlet Witch Special Presentation, Wanda's story looks set to continue elsewhere.
While the site is unsure whether the character will be part of Disney+'s Vision Quest (it sounds likely she will), they claim we'll see her again in at least one episode of Agatha: Coven of Chaos in a minor but pivotal role.
Beyond that, we're sure you'll be glad to know that the Scarlet Witch is set to return in both Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Given Wanda's own experience with the Multiverse and her immense power level, we're sure she'll be crucial when Earth's Mightiest Heroes assemble to fight Kang the Conqueror.
This is just a rumour for now, but there's a lot here that makes sense. While many fans were excited about a Scarlet Witch movie, if those plans have changed, it might not be the worst thing in the world. After all, the current slate is busy enough as it is and it wouldn't hurt Marvel Studios to slow down a little in the next Saga.
What do you hope to see from the Scarlet Witch in the MCU moving forward?
