WandaVision's early sitcom episodes were shot in black and white, but that caused some complications when it came to portraying Vision's synthezoid appearance.

We've heard in past interviews that actor Paul Bettany had to don blue face paint so he would look right on camera, but we had just assumed he'd be made up as a blue version of Vision. Nope.

These behind-the-scenes photos from today's Assembled: The Making of WandaVision show that the actor's face had to be painted entirely blue with tracking dots covering his face.

It's a little weird to look at, that's for sure, but the entire documentary is a must-watch, especially as it sheds a lot of light on how Marvel Studios went about making perhaps its most unique series to date.

In our review of the entire first season of WandaVision, we concluded with: "A beautiful exploration of love and loss mixed with blockbuster visuals makes WandaVision an absolute winner for the expansion of the MCU on television, and it shouldn’t take a magic trick to ensure Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany walk away with their fair share of prizes come award season."
