We finally saw Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) become the Scarlet Witch and don a striking new costume in the series finale of Marvel's WandaVision, but it seems the character almost wore a more familiar-looking - and far less impressive - outfit.
Marvel Studios concept artist David Masson shared a pair of alternate designs for Wanda's Scarlet Witch costume to his ArtStation profile, and it looks like the Disney+ show was originally considering a far more reserved look for the character.
"Had the immense pleasure of working on Marvel's WandaVision under the supervision of amazing costume designer Mayes Rubeo," Masson captioned his post. "Here are some illustrations of a look that didn't make it in the show, they were supposed to be the next step to her Endgame look."
Both designs are quite similar, and actually appear to be inspired by the costume Wanda briefly donned in the final moments of Avengers: Age of Ultron. It's probably safe to assume that most fans will be glad these concepts were left unused!
WandaVision is unlikely to get a second season, but Wanda's story will continue in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
