WandaVision made it clear from the start that something strange was going on in Westview, especially after The Vision had been resurrected following his definitive death at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. We'd later learn that this Vision was formed of Chaos Magic and the piece of the Mind Stone that resides within Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch.
As for the "real" Vision, he'd been taken apart by S.W.O.R.D. before being repurposed as a weapon. Thankfully, he regained his memories, but the White Vision has been M.I.A. ever since.
While time will tell what Marvel Studios has planned for the android, concept artist Phil Saunders has revealed some horrifying designs for that memorable autopsy scene. "I was looking to humanize him as much as possible," he explains in the Instagram post below, "so tried to create an analog to a traditional autopsy, with bionic organs that mimicked human anatomy."
"This one was a little more dehumanizing," Saunders says of the second piece of artwork. "I imagined if they were dissecting him to see how he worked, they might try to keep each component relative to each other in a sort of 'exploded view' using rods to keep the layers suspended. I thought it felt really cool and robotic, but the show runners wanted something even more alienating."
This sequence paid homage to a memorable comic book moment in the pages of West Coast Avengers, and it's that series we can look to for context on where The Vision's story could be heading. Rumour has it Armor Wars is where the hero will return, though there's every chance he could be part of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness given the Scarlet Witch's role in the sequel.
