WANDAVISION: Here's Why The Scarlet Witch Was Broadcasting Her Sitcom Adventures Outside The Hex

WandaVision Head Writer Jac Schaeffer has elaborated on why Wanda Maximoff's time inside the Hex was broadcast to the world at large, revealing who was behind us seeing the Scarlet Witch's sitcom life.

WandaVision left us with a few unanswered questions, including why Wanda Maximoff's sitcom reality was being broadcast outside the Hex. Dr. Darcy Lewis mentioned that someone was editing them, and that was a big part of the reason why many fans theorised that a secret villain had to be pulling the strings (like Nightmare or Mephisto).

In an interview with Rolling Stone, WandaVision Head Writer Jac Schaeffer finally elaborated on the plot point, explaining why the Scarlet Witch chose to share her new reality with the outside world.

"In my mind, Wanda is broadcasting for two reasons. One, she’s curating her experience. She is creating the full picture of her idealized world. So she’s editing and adding a score and adding commercials, and she’s making the completed piece that is verification of her perfect life."

"Second to that, I think she’s looking for a witness. It’s a call for help. It’s reaching out," the writer continued. "The broadcast ends and cuts out after the hex expansion at the end of Episode Seven. And that’s because she’s done with the outside world."

This is a fascinating insight into Wanda's mindset in the Disney+ series, and it's a shame a little more time wasn't devoted to what many fans ultimately felt was an unresolved plot point.

Despite that, WandaVision did a great job of exploring the Scarlet Witch's damaged psyche, and nicely set the stage for her story to continue in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. There, Wanda is likely to tear her way through the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of the Multiverse in a bid to find Tommy and Billy, whose voices she heard while exploring the Darkhold in that post-credits scene.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be released in theaters on March 25, 2022.

I'll leave the blame on the pandemic, but this show came up short for me. I love the vision and wanted more for him in this. I was disappointed about no Mephisto(I know bad spelling) and the resolution about Pedro.

@SpideyQuad - It's not the show's fault whatsoever people anticipated Mephisto. It was just fan speculation run amok.

@Tonic24k - true, but still disappointing nevertheless. I totally understand how circumstances affected the final product, but I was so anticipating his introduction

A lot of people spend a lot of time pointing out the flaws, but for me, this show was perfect. Already rewatched it a few times.

I'm glad they are addressing these questions in the series itself as opposed to explaining everything after which is normally the sign of poorly explained decisions/writing... :L

In all seriousness though, the writing for this show was so poor that I feel the only reason it was not delayed was because they wanted the show to under-perform compared to the more profitable option of TF&TWS with it's seemingly lower focus on sets/otherwise.

@Scarilian - I can respect a minority opinion...but to say the writing was so poor is just objectively inaccurate.

The Best thing about a series is you can fill in the blanks and take the time to fully explain things in ways you can't in a movie setting. This show did not take advantage of that.
