So far in What If...?, we've seen what would happen if Peggy Carter had taken the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve Rogers, and followed T'Challa as he became Star-Lord in place of Peter Quill.
This Wednesday's instalment, however, looks set to revisit Phase 1 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in what's become known as "Nick Fury's Big Week." That was the period S.H.I.E.L.D. had to deal with The Hulk's return, Thor's arrival on Earth, and Tony Stark's refusals to sign up for the Avengers Initiative in Iron Man 2 (Captain America would be discovered a little while later).
The first three episodes of What If...? were screened for critics, but we won't say much more than that for now as it's a lot of fun to see what proves to be a surprisingly weird story play out.
In the meantime, Marvel Studios has dropped a couple of character posters putting the spotlight on Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Black Widow (Lake Bell). As you can see, they don't look much different to the versions of the S.H.I.E.L.D. duo we saw back in 2010, but their respective stories are bound to unfold in unexpected ways as we visit another alternate reality.
