With less than 48 hours to go until What If...? arrives on Disney+, Marvel Studios has shared two character posters for the animated series putting the spotlight on Captain Carter and the HYDRA Stomper. With that comes confirmation the premiere episode will focus on the alternate reality where Peggy Carter takes the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve Rogers.
If you kept an eye on the first critic reactions to the show, this news won't surprise you, but it appears Marvel Studios is taking a slightly different approach to how they'll promote What If...?
With live-action efforts such as The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and Loki, we'd get character posters shortly after their weekly episodes hit Disney+. This time, however, it seems the plan is to hype up what's to come by showing us the alternate reality heroes and villains we'll meet in advance.
Captain Carter has already gained quite the following, while it's definitely going to be fun seeing the scrawny Steve Rogers blasting into action wearing his own Iron Man armour.
"'What If…?' flips the script on the MCU, reimagining famous events from the films in unexpected ways," teases the brief synopsis for Marvel Studios' first animated TV series.
"Coming to Disney+ in summer 2021, Marvel Studios’ first animated series focuses on different heroes from the MCU," it continues, "featuring a voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their roles. The series is directed by Bryan Andrews; Ashley Bradley is head writer."
