After Heroes was announced as officially dead after four seasons of progressively convoluted and weaker material, the show's creator Tim Kring made a couple statements on the matter.

“I want to first extend my deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the legion of enthusiastic fans who have watched ‘Heroes’ on TV, online, DVR, DVD and mobile over the last four seasons." said Kring.

The statement that raises eyebrows though was when he said this,

"They (NBC) provided me a rare opportunity to put a message of hope, interconnectivity and global consciousness into the world. For that I am grateful and look forward to finalizing our discussion about a number of ways to keep the ‘Heroes’ universe alive for its fans.”

Keeping the universe alive?

Interesting....indeed. Does that mean spinoff? Movie? Who knows, but we do know for sure that Kring doesn't want the Heroverse to just completely die off.

UPDATE:

The Hollywood Insider is reporting that talks between Kring and NBC are gearing towards either a 2 hour movie or mini-series to tie up loose ends for the show.
