The Cape Finale Bumped To Show Online Only

NBC's The Cape, which has been struggling to attract viewers has been taken another blow and will not be shown on the network - but will be shown on-line instead.

TV Line are reporting on another embarassing blow for NBC's The Cape

A rep for NBC confirms for TVLine that the show’s season finale, which was to have aired this past Monday as part of a double-header, instead will premiere online at NBC.com sometime in March.

The Cape fresh from having its 13 episode order cut to just 10 has really struggled to attract the large audience NBC were looking for - and I am sure this will come as no surprise to people who have followed the fate of the show.

The show has actually been better than advertised. It contains some very interesting themes about the struggle against privatization of public enterprise, which is in line with NBC's populist leanings.

Its a shame that it won't be renewed.

Yeah it really did go downhill. I didn't think the pilot was too bad, thought the episodes after that got really ehhhh, but the Liche Part 1 & 2 were terrible.

Can't say I'll miss this show. Gave it a fair shot.

They should have at least showed the finale on NBC though. That's just pathetic, I'll never get around to watching it most likely.

Maybe cuz it's showing on the same time as Being Human? Use your heads NBC and put it in another time slot.

Can't blame anyone for losing interest in this show. I was watching it, but not really into it, nor looking forward to it. Even some of my family who was watching it was getting bored with it.

That's a shame, I actually kinda liked that show. Good to see a campy show that doesn't, well more like didn't take itself as seriously as most superhero media is these days.

They need to make a Batman live action. If they do it the right way it could be huge.

I thought The Cape was a fun show that was a lot more like a comic book than any other live-action comic-type show that has aired in a long time.

It got better in each episode, the "Kozmo" episode was actually very good.
It had issues but it was at least a valiant attempt at an original superhero premise (despite the heavy leaning on Batmanesque concepts and the outright theft of Killer Croc lol).

It was strangely endearing and although tbh it was a little weak, I have a strange fondness for it.

I'll prolly get the box set or at least collect all the episodes online for posterity.

The real tragedy is it's failure will discourage further attempts at original superhero shows... and that is a loss to us all.

Batman show would make sense, give him a break from the big screen for awhile. And it seems it's always worked out when Batman is on the big screen, Superman is on the small, vice versa.

This is NBC's failed attempt, to fill the void Heroes left.

Their getting desperate, that's why they picked up Wonder Woman.

this show is not good at all. NBC/Heroes should have just had Hiro go back in time and start over at the end of season 1.

I have to agree with MAVEN, the show was strangely endearing, I think mostly because of "the Cape's" growing relationship with the kid. How many of us remembers what it was like to be a kid, look out the window and wish that comic book superheroes were real?

And this kid gets his wish. Not jusy ANY superhero, but his favorite at that. The problem I had with the Cape was that the hero always seemed to have a chip on his shoulder, it made him less than desirable to watch. It wasn't like a "bad-ass" chip, but more like an angry man ready to go postal at any moment.
The Circus of Crime is just ridiculous. Bad guys? Good Guys? Anti-Heroes? What's the deal with them? It would have been better to have the Cape go up against them and then be on his own, or rather with Orwell.

Finally, there's the villain - the sub-par "Norman Osbourn" with the split personality. IDK, something about him just didn't attract me. The actor is all right, but I just didn't like the character at all. Didn't come off too menacing to me, really.

I'm not crazy about the show, but at the same time I believe it has potential and will be sorry to see it not given more time to show that potential. Its a shame.

The show got stale really quick. All he would ever do is take away someone's weapons with his cape and then he'd flash bomb away. You just didn't feel like rooting for the main character, and that's saying something.

That's disappointing. This feels like the other television show Birds of Prey. A good show, shot lived. I've enjoyed the Cape, now leaving the show hanging without an ending. Let the series finish on a high note, not on a cliffhanger. Flashforward was the same way, it was going good, then come to find out there was no second season leaving me with lots of questions. So, I'm hoping this is not that way.

i actually enjoy this show i think the guy that plays vince has a lot of potential to be a great actor as well as the actor who plays chess and i think if the writers were a little better it could be a great show

When are the networks going to learn that attempting to bypass licensing fees (going the cheap route) by using a made-up character loosely based off of established comic book characters never works. The same thing happened in the 70's with Man From Atlantis (an amnesiac Namor rip-off). The only difference was that there was no internet back then wo once it was off TV it was gone for good.

To do a successful TV show based on a comic book you have to (A) use an established, popular comic book hero and (B) stay as closely as you can to canon. The new Wonder Woman show has at least one of these precepts. Unfortunately, it needs both or it is likely to fail. Lois & Clark, for all of the bad writing and lousy villains, lasted 4 seasons because the writers and producers knew these two things.

I haven't bothered to watch even one episode.
