Fans of the original Cowboy Bebop anime were surprised and disappointed when Radical Ed wasn't announced as being part of the main cast of Netflix's live-action adaptation, but the character does actually appear in the final episode.

The streamer officially introduced newcomer Eden Perkins as Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivruski IV last week, and the non-binary actor has now expressed their excitement at getting to bring life to the hacker extraordinaire in the official Cowboy Bebop: Unlocked after show.

Skip to the 24:00 mark to find out what Perkins had to say.

The video also includes interview snippets with showrunner Andre Nemec, who explained why Ed only has a very minor role in the first season.

"All we wanted was for Ed to make an appearance on Cowboy Bebop," he said. "You know, Ed doesn't show up until the ninth episode of the anime. So it wasn't like Ed is a core member of the Bebop crew from gate in the anime, and it was important to spend enough time with these characters in order to really understand them and get traction."

Spoilers for the Cowboy Bebop finale ahead.

In the last episode, "Supernova Symphony," Ed and Ein find Spike passed out in an alley, where the rather excitable teen tells the forlorn bounty hunter that they have a dangerous job for him which involves tracking down someone known as the Butterfly Man (we're going to assume this is actually Vincent Volaju).
