Ahsoka is set to premiere on Disney+ later this year, but all signs point to Lucasfilm having ambitious plans for Rosario Dawson's take on the fan-favourite character.
After gaining a massive following for her role in The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels (where she was voiced by Ashley Eckstein), Ahsoka Tano finally made her live-action debut in The Mandalorian, with Dawson later reprising the role in The Book of Boba Fett. She's now set to take centre stage in a spin-off, Ahsoka, and it sounds like season 2 is already being planned.
Disney recently published its first-quarter earnings report (via SFFGazette.com), and Ahsoka is referred to as a "Season 1." Other upcoming projects, such as Marvel Studios' Secret Invasion and Skeleton Crew, don't have that denotation, so it's safe to assume the Star Wars show is being eyed as a series that potentially receives multiple seasons.
That's hardly a surprise, though we'd imagine no decisions will be made until Lucasfilm and Disney+ get to see the reviews and, most importantly, viewership figures.
Dawson herself has shared her hopes for a second season in a few different interviews, strongly hinting this won't be a one-and-done adventure that brings Ahsoka's story to a close.
Primarily a Star Wars Rebels sequel dealing with the respective fates of Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn, the series promises to be an important addition to the franchise as Dave Filoni continues to explore the Galaxy's lore. With Hayden Christensen expected to return as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, it should be one worth keeping an eye on.
Recent rumours have even indicated this show is going to delve into very different sides of this Galaxy, with magic deepening the Star Wars franchise's mythology in new and unexpected ways. That won't sit well with every fan, of course, but we have all the faith in the world in Dave Filoni's storytelling abilities.
Ahsoka is set to premiere on Disney+ later this year, so stay tuned for updates!
