STAR WARS: THE BAD BATCH Just Brought Back An Unexpected Character From ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY

The season finale of The Bad Batch left Star Wars with a major cliffhanger, but the episodes also brought back a familiar character from Rogue One with the same actor lending their voice to the villain...

Star Wars' animated offerings have often attracted big names from the movies, with Liam Neeson and Ian McDiarmid among those who have chosen to lend their voices to shows like The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

Earlier this week, however, fans of The Bad Batch got a surprise when Ben Mendelsohn made his return as Director Orson Krennic. He's the Imperial who spearheaded Project Stardust (a.k.a. the construction of the Death Star), and we followed the villain's story in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, with Krennic's ambition eventually getting the best of him.

He was shown attending a summit helmed by Grand Moff Tarkin, someone we know he eventually clashes with when it came to his desire to receive praise for his work from the Emperor. In this exchange, Tarkin asks Krennic for an update on "Project Stardust," a fun Easter Egg that continues to build connectivity between these projects.

The Bad Batch has been exploring the Empire's shift from Clone Troopers to Stormtroopers, and we can't help but wonder when and where they'll appear in live-action. We do, however, anticipate seeing Captain Rex in Ahsoka later this year.

As for Krennic, we have to believe he'll be part of Andor season 2 as well.

In season 2, months have passed since the events on Kamino, and the Bad Batch continue their journey navigating the Empire after the fall of the Republic. They will cross paths with friends and foes, both new and familiar, as they take on a variety of thrilling mercenary missions that will take them to unexpected and dangerous new places.

The Bad Batch season 2 stars Emmy Award nominee Dee Bradley Baker as the voice of the Bad Batch and Emmy Award nominee Michelle Ang as the voice of Omega.

Check out Krennic's surprise cameo below (via SFFGazette.com).

Hm. I still haven't started this season. I had to make myself finish season 1.

Is season 2 any better?

@TheVandalore - it's better but has the exact same issues as season 1, so u will probably have a hard time watching this one as well

I couldn't really get into The Bad Batch for this exact reason. Much like rebels, it quickly devolved into a stream of dumb cameos; I'm happy to see that Dave Filoni gets to have his pet project though.

@LilJimmy - He who should not be named? Hell no. I'm still on the fence if he's really gone, there's a couple of options but who knows.

@gtabreaker - honestly….I actually do think he is dead but in Star Wars, much like comics, characters have a habit of not staying dead.

I thought the first season was fine but really enjoyed season 2. Hoping for an announcement for season at Star Wars celebration this month.

Honest question,
Do people actually watch the animated stuff?
Kids, sure.. but general audience?

It just seems odd to have significant characters for cannon but placed in the cartoons since most people IMO don't watch these things.

Then when introduced in live action from, we as general audience members don't make the connection or care.

Just seems wasted sort of.

@Imprtracr1 - I think you’d be surprised how many people do. Star Wars fans certainly do and the Faveroue/Filoni stuff they are doing are leaning heavily into plot threads from the animated properties.

Yes, the animated shows are for kids but they are mature enough that adults can enjoy them as well. Just like how the movies are also primarily for kids but adults can enjoy them.

@Imprtracr1 - They are purposely interweaving the storylines, stuff in Bad Batch ties into Mando re: cloning the Emperor, Ashokas live action show will heavily lean on threads from Rebels. Clone Wars set up Ashoka, so yeah, the animated stuff, although geared more towards children is also intended for the hardcore fans who can’t get enough. A lot of it is well done and some themes / concepts are likely aimed at the adult audience.

Def not required required, but informative and entertaining nonetheless
