OBI-WAN KENOBI Concept Art Reveals One Of The Frozen Prequel-Era Jedi Knights And Another Who Was Cut

Newly revealed Obi-Wan Kenobi concept art reveals a closer look at designs for two Jedi warriors from the Star Wars prequels. One appeared in the Disney+ series, while the other was nowhere to be found!

Obi-Wan Kenobi was set smack bang between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and offered a better idea of what this Galaxy Far, Far Away looked like at the height of the Empire's rule.

During what proved to be an unforgettable trip, we were taken to Fortress Inquisitorious, the home of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader's Sith Inquisitors. Obi-Wan was forced to infiltrate that base to rescue Princess Leia and ended up discovering the bodies of many of his old Jedi allies frozen in an amber-like substance deep beneath the surface.

We still don't know what they're doing there and the show provided no additional clues as it continued. The prevailing theory online is that Palpatine either wants their Midi-chlorians for his cloning experiments or that these fallen Jedi somehow power the Inquisitors.

Now, ILM senior concept artist Kouji Tajima has shared some of his art from Obi-Wan Kenobi. (via SFFGazette.com). We're sure you'll recognise Jedi Knight Pablo-Jill, a character who first appeared in Attack of the Clones and was among those fighting on Geonosis.

He didn't end up appearing in the Disney+ series, though we're assuming he was meant to be among the bodies on display. However, it's also possible that he was going to be killed by Anakin Skywalker during flashbacks to his attack on the Jedi Temple in Revenge of the Sith

We also see Jedi Master Tera Sinube, a character from The Clone Wars. He was entombed by Palpatine and Vader's followers, so there's no chance, unlike Pablo-Jill, we could see him again down the line.

Lucasfilm has done a great job of deepening the Star Wars franchise on Disney+, and we hope this won't be the last time we visit this era. Of course, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will likely be the next story to show us what became of the remaining Jedi in the wake of Anakin becoming Darth Vader. Fingers crossed we get some answers, anyway.

''We're sure you'll recognise Jedi Knight Pablo-Jill, a character who first appeared in Attack of the Clones''

Immediately ofcourse. Except I thought it was Coleman Kcaj. But they look the exact same anyway (wait, is that a racist thing to say?)

I wonder what the evolutionary advantage is to having the eyes on the cheek though.

A real Glup Shitto, that one.

@Asterisk - wait is this not the guy who was shot by Jango Fett protecting Count Dooku? Or am I being space racist?

@Asterisk - I think that was Coleman Trebor.

@Asterisk - I'm impressed that you even remotely remember what the guy that got shot by Jango looked like. They all look the same though, so I don't blame you (but really, as that racist to say?)

If Coleman was Leonardo then Pablo is definitely Raphael, would love to see him back in the right hands 💪🏾🔥

Who cares? It makes zero sense for the empire to preserve the jedi.

@Origame - not if somebody wants to juice up on force sensitives. Gideon, and probably the Emperor, have some plans to

@Origame - Why doesn't it make sense?
Origame
Origame - 9/21/2022, 6:28 PM
@bkmeijer1 - @CorndogBurglar the whole point of the empire is to rule. Force sensitive are also subject to extermination by them for that reason. The emperor and darth vader can't genuinely train other force sensitive individuals as sith because of the rule of 2, and without them as sith they are only a potential threat.

Sure, the inquisitors exist. But they are exclusively for jedi hunting with it very apparent that they will be killed once their job is done. And there's no way all those jedi wouldn't already made into inquisitors at this point.

Closest I can think of is cloning, but it makes no sense for them to need them alive. And besides, Vader has the highest midichlorian count, so force sensitive cloning experiments would probably be best done on Vader clones anyway.

@Origame - So, I could have my timelines screwy here, but I though Palpatine never really believed in the Rule of Two. Didnt Palpatine train Maul while he was still Plagueis' apprentice? And then later, Dooku and Ventress? Or are there story elements there I'm missing?

And for the cloning thing, I know it's almost impossible to create force sensitive clones, but it has been done before, right? Wouldn't it make sense for Palpatine to be trying to master that by harvesting Jedi midichloreans?

CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 9/21/2022, 8:02 PM
@Origame - I'm also pretty sure Palpatine took Dooku as an apprentice before Maul died.

And when we look at the harvesting midichloreans story, this is during Obi Wan, so before Episode 4 happens. They still didn't perfect force sensitive clones until the created Snoke, which was much later than this. So I do think it makes sense to be harvesting midichloreans from Jedi. You wouldn't want to harvest Vader's because you would be weakening your strongest tool, and they didnt have the understanding of how to clone force sensitives yet.
Origame
Origame - 9/21/2022, 8:35 PM
@CorndogBurglar - first of all, Palpatine was actually a firm believer in the rule of 2. In fact his motivation for killing plageus was partially so he could take maul as an apprentice. Also, he didn't even meet dooku until after training maul.

As for the cloning, midichlorians are within the cells. I really don't see why they couldn't use dead jedi for this or it weakening Vader much by taking some of his cells to experiment with.

bkmeijer1 - 9/22/2022, 3:21 AM
@Origame - I don't think Vader would've been a fan of being used for experiments, so maybe that's why they froze others.

As for the Inquisitors, I think only those easy to break were made into them. Even then, it is odd that we only see them kill Jedi yet there are many captured alive it seems.
Origame
Origame - 9/22/2022, 4:15 AM
@bkmeijer1 - Vader wouldn't care. He was given the opportunity for a suit that was significantly less painful to wear and more mobile yet turned it down partly because he stopped caring about himself.

And yeah. That's more reason it doesn't make any sense.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 9/22/2022, 4:30 AM
@Origame - that does sound like a Vader thing to do
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 9/22/2022, 7:46 AM
@Origame - He killed Plagueis in his sleep though, which is not what Darth Bane meant when he created the Rule of Two. It was meant to be used so the apprentice would defeat the master in battle. And he was already training Maul, and Plagueis was even aware of it. He allowed it because Palpatine told him he wasn't training Maul to be a Sith, but that he was just his assassin and a tool. Which obviously wasn't true.

Also, it can be assumed that Palpatine WAS training Dooku while Maul was still alive (before he got cut in half). We know that Dooku paid the Pyke syndicate to kill Sifo-Dyas sometime during the chancellorship of Finis Valorum. We know that because Valorum personally sent Sifo-Dyas to negotiate with the Pykes.

We also know that Darth Maul was cut in half in the last days of Valorum's rule, during the Naboo crisis. In Clone Wars Dooku used his Sith name to introduce himself to the Pykes. And He wouldn't have had the name Darth Tyranus unless Palpatine gave it to him because Sith Masters assign their apprentices their names.

So that means Palpatine had to have been training Dooku and Maul at the same time.

Origame
Origame - 9/22/2022, 9:39 AM
@CorndogBurglar - first, the purpose of the apprentice killing the Master in combat is to have the sith forever growing in strength. Palpatine could've viewed plageus trusting him enough to allow Palpatine to kill him in his sleep as weakness. Remember, this is a religion. And religious beliefs change all the time. Palpatine views cunning and paranoia as strengths just as much as combat ability and power. And that thought process clearly worked as his rule made the sith arguably stronger than they've ever been.

Second, while dooku was being trained by maul, we don't know how much of that was him genuinely being considered an apprentice. Palpatine could've promised dooku the title of darth when maul died then he got ahead of himself and started using it himself (or it's a continuity error in clone wars). But the point being, dooku was being primed as the next apprentice in line, either by Palpatine planning for maul to "die" or by having dooku face maul sometime later.
