OBI-WAN KENOBI's Premiere Featured Some Big Cameos And A Jaw-Dropping Ending - SPOILERS

Obi-Wan Kenobi's first two episodes included some surprise cameo appearances along with an ending that, well, we definitely need to take a closer look at what proves to be one heck of an epic cliffhanger!

In recent weeks, there have been a lot of big Obi-Wan Kenobi leaks and rumours. However, while the first two episodes of the Disney+ limited series confirmed that they were (mostly) accurate, there are a whole heap of details that thankfully didn't find their way online ahead of the premiere.

We got some big cameos in these opening chapters, including C-3PO when the premiere took us to Alderaan. Obi-Wan Kenobi marks the first time we've visited that planet, of course, and Princess Leia's upbringing could not have been any different to Luke Skywalker's on Tatooine. Alderaan looks very much like the nicer planets we saw in the Star Wars prequels, and life there seems good.

We think R2-D2 can also be glimpsed somewhere in the background, anyway, but that was indeed Anthony Daniels back in costume as Threepio for what proves to be a fun moment for fans.

However, the biggest surprise cameo comes when The Book of Boba Fett star Temuera Morrison shows up as a Veteran Clone Trooper begging for money on Daiyu. The actor has been slightly aged up and is rocking a mighty beard. Aside from Star Wars Rebels, this offers an idea of what became of many Clone Troopers after the Empire decided they were surplus to requirements.

While much of the opening chapters were devoted to pulling "Ben" out of retirement to save Princess Leia (with the Sith Inquisitors in hot pursuit), Darth Vader is finally revealed in the second episode's closing moments.

It turns out Obi-Wan had no idea Anakin Skywalker survived the events of Revenge of the Sith and Reva takes great delight in breaking the news to the Jedi Master.

Reeling from this revelation, a stunned Obi-Wan says "Anakin" and the screen immediately cuts to Darth Vader inside a Bacta Tank. Hayden Christensen returns as the iconic villain for this scene and looks horribly disfigured after his battle years earlier with Obi-Wan on Mustafar.

The episode ends with Vader's familiar breathing, and it appears the fallen hero is all too aware of Kenobi's presence. After all, "Ben" had cut himself off from the Force until being left with no other option than to spring into action and save Leia, and something tells us Anakin would have no trouble sensing a presence he hadn't felt in a very long time.

I wish they would just post here first instead of that website they made that no one really goes to.

Did you not see Revenge Of The Sith?

It was awesome to see non-CGI Clone Troopers for the first time ever. They look so great with real armor.

The show is ok. The villain writing is terrible. I dont like the acting on any of the inquisitors but Reva takes me out of the show everytime shes in a scene. She not intimidating and looks too normal. Maybe they should have saved Cad Bane for this. You would instantly buy him as a threat.

@AvalonX - I agree. Every other inquisitor has some unique and strange facial design. She is just a woman.
I mean I know why they cast that particular character but she is too normal looking to be an evil and ominous inquisitor.

my biggest question is what is up with the Grand Inquisitor now, is he dead? granted, injuries in the SW universe are always inconsistent, some force users can survive dismemberment while others die in just one shot. I say that because it calls the canon status of Rebels into question if we assume he's actually dead.

@Spidey91 - i think Grand Inquisitor is just a title and maybe a more accurate one will fill his shoes

I like what we've seen so far. Have no idea where the hate for Reva is coming from. (Besides the usual sexist/racist suspects) I do hope they quickly resolve the apparent Grand Inquisitor plot hole, though.

other than that, it was pretty good, Mcgregor keeps proving he's still the MVP of the Clone Wars era.
and the homeless clone trooper was actually a really sad sight. these guys were literally made to wage war and when that was over they were just discarded like trash.

the inquisitors don't live up to their appearances in Rebels

much less intimidating and much more generic

the new girl is not a believable threat

everything with obi wan is great

I don't dislike young Leia, but think they either needed to set it a few years later, where she would be at least 13 or just get a writing that can write kids more believably, just don't buy her (plus she looks younger than 10)

For the first two episodes, while I do have some issues with it, id say there is more good than bad

should have brought in jason issacs or someone like tobias menzies to play the grand inquisitor, also maybe get sarah michelle gellar to play seventh sister instead of creating the new girl
SpaceParanoids
SpaceParanoids - 5/28/2022, 5:50 AM
@dracula - I forgot about Gellar. That would have been good, but they needed to cast the new girl not Gellar.

The music in this was SO disappointing. Natalie Holt's work is just mediocre. It doesn't fit the visuals at all. We didn't heard ANY classic Star Wars leitmotif. We get that it is a TV show but this is STAR WARS. This is a story completing the Prequels, it MUST feature music composed by John Williams.

Such a weak ass way to reveal to Kenobi that...shit, not only that Anakin is alive but that he's also turned into Darth Vader.

It should've been an epic moment but alas...
Darth258
Darth258 - 5/28/2022, 3:35 AM
@Doomsday8888 - Kenobi already knew that Anakin was called Darth Vader from the recoding he and Yoda saw in Episode 3. I'm more confused abour Reva knowing he's Anakin, i thought that was not supposed to be known.

@Darth258
Nice catch!
But damn, does that mean that Vader still has to make a reputation for himself?
Like, if you know there's a Lord Sith named Vader out there in the galaxy doing all kinds of shit, than someone like Kenobi should already know that Anakin is alive THE moment any kind of news regarding Vader comes to his attention, right?
Granted he stayed pretty lowkey in order to protect Luke but heh...

But yeah, Reva should't be aware that Vader is Anakin, then again...she USED TO BE a Jedi, so maybe that could explain it?
Darth258
Darth258 - 5/28/2022, 6:54 AM
@Doomsday8888 - Probably Tatooine is still out of reach from the Empire since it's ruled by the Hutts and they don't get the news and propaganda. Or Vader is not a public figure as the Emperor and more of a black ops leader.

That would be a good explaination for Reva
Knightrider
Knightrider - 5/29/2022, 12:10 AM
@Doomsday8888 - Well I am assuming she was one of the kids who we saw at the beginning of episode one.
So, maybe she saw Anakin kill all the Jedi and may have even referred to himself as Vader during it.

Show is Awesome so far, I'm really hoping we get a flashback episode with Anakin, Obi, Ahsoka, and Rex. This is our only chance at a live action Clone Wars episode.

Episodes were good, but 100% Reva should not know that Vader was Anakin.

@Loonattakk - I think they are establishing she can read minds to a degree. The Grand Inquisitior even said she got to where she is by some sort of ability and then we see her pull the information from Rama using the force she might have pulled it from Vader accidentally during her training when they were fighting

Reva is already annoying. Hope she’s killed off quick. That samurai looking dude looks rad. I hope he fights like Samurai
Ha1frican
Ha1frican - 5/28/2022, 11:19 PM
I like it a lot so far, my only slight nitpicks are you can hear Ewan’s accent coming through a few times in Episode 1 and I don’t really understand how they could have kille dog the Grand Inquisitior if there’s still years before Rebels where he plays an integral part. Seems the canon doesn’t totally line up unless there’s another Grand Inquisitor of the same race that happens to sound exactly the same that takes his place which would also be lame.
Ha1frican
Ha1frican - 5/28/2022, 11:21 PM
@Ha1frican - Oh and yeah Reva can’t act. She just doesn’t have the gravitas to pull off being a bad guy she’s trying too hard and it just doesn’t sound convincing meanwhile all the other Inquisitors seem way more threatening (even the one girl who didn’t speak)
