RUMOR MILL: Hayden Christensen Will Reportedly Play A Key Role In Disney+ OBI-WAN KENOBI TV Series

There have been rumblings about this for a while, but yet another rumour is doing the rounds today which claims that Hayden Christensen will have a big role in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series...

In "Rumor Mill," we share the hard to buy rumours that don't come from reliable sources like the trades, but are still more believable (just) than what you might find on Reddit.

Ever since Hayden Christensen made a surprise appearance during last year's Star Wars Celebration, speculation has run rampant about a possible return as Anakin Skywalker. His voice could be heard in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but he didn't make a physical appearance despite rumours of a number of Force Ghosts showing up during the movie's final battle.

Now, LRM Online is the latest site to claim that Christensen will play a role in the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series coming to Disney+. Apparently, the deal is done, and the plan was for his casting to be announced at this year's Star Wars Celebration (which was recently cancelled due to COVID-19).

The site notes that the Star Wars prequels actor has been "casted" as a regular in the show, meaning he will be making more than just a cameo appearance. It's highly unlikely Christensen is going to don Darth Vader's iconic suit, but it does seem feasible that he could appear in flashbacks or dream sequences.

We'll have to wait and see, but fans are anxious to see more of Anakin in live-action, and Obi-Wan Kenobi definitely seems like the best possible place for that to happen.

What do you think about this rumour?

Before the sequel trilogy, this would’ve been a terrible idea for me.

Post sequel trilogy, I’m in a [frick] it mindset why not...

And he will have the high ground this time.

I really dont know how you can have hayden as a series regular without messing with the lore. Those flashbacks will need to be like 50% of the series or vader somehow learns obi wan is alive despite a new hope clearly being the first time they met since mustafar.

Comeback as Darth Vader or not at all.

@marvel72 - Only if he has James Earl Jones' voice and then why bother with Christensen? LOL

Seriously, I think that they should leave Vader alone and not ruin the character unless someone seriously good is in charge. I think Feige might be too busy to oversee SW.

@RolandD - Exactly,no point having him in it at all.
So unless he's playing Vader, I don't think we need to see him.

@marvel72 - Agreed. I also just don't want to see Vader get ruined by a bad portrayal. He was an awesome villain who was able to leave the Dark Side, at least for the love of his son. Don't mess up that legacy.

All the hate for the prequels may be justified to an extent, but the praise for the horrible final trilogy is pure delusion.

He’s hoping the Obi Wan series isn’t just a cash grab, that they do it well, and that it has the feel of episode 3

@MuadDib - What praise? I hear more hate than praise. I am okay with the new characters. What I hate is how poorly Leia, Luke and Han were treated. There was no reunion of all three. Han was killed, although I have heard that was the only way Harrison Ford would come back. Finally, although Luke had a triumphant battle against Kylo and his army, I hate the way he was characterized up until then.

@MuadDib - Both are bad as far as trilogies go, but the prequels have one solid movie while the sequels have what many believe to be 2 solid (maybe even great) movies. Definitely not a cohesive story all the way through though.

@RolandD - I agree, the ball was seriously dropped and having the trio on screen together is just one of many many many mistakes made by JJ and RJ and KK and all the other dumbies who though Solo was necessary or even RO whether it was good or not, what did it really contribute or change about the cinematic universe?

The be ok w/ the focus on Rey who’s now a “Skywatcher Jedi” lmao..

It could be argued that not even Luke was a freaking real full fledged Jedi, powerful in the force yes, but not a Jedi in the traditional sense.

Anyway, Mando is the only solid SW live action that’s been any good story wise since D took over. Here’s hoping Obi Wan and Ashoka and all the rest don’t disappoint

If he does, have him scarred and burned here & there when Obi dreams him up.
