THE MANDALORIAN: A Reddit User Correctly Revealed The Child's Name THREE Months Ago

We tend to take any information sourced from Reddit with a pinch of salt, but one user shared some inside intel three months ago which correctly revealed the true name of The Child. Find more details here.

We rarely share anything from Reddit here on CBM because it's usually nonsense dreamed up by someone who's bored and looking for attention! There are occasionally some gems on there, though, and this is one of them.

During Friday's episode of The Mandalorian, Ahsoka Tano revealed that The Child's real name is Grogu. The Jedi also told Din Djarin that his ward was trained in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant before being hidden away by an unknown ally (that's definitely a story for another time). The fact that "Baby Yoda" has a name came as a shocker, and we'll likely see "Grogu" adorning merchandise very soon.

Three months ago, a user called u/Denim__Dan shared a post on r/StarWarsLeaks in which he claimed that, "a friend of mine has a relative who’s a Hollywood stuntman, and he worked on both season 1 and season 2 of [The Mandalorian]...Yesterday he told my friend that Baby Yoda will be getting a real name during this season. How he gets this name, I don’t know."

"He said [The Child's] name will be Grogu."

Well, there is is! This Redditor deserves a lot of credit for sharing this information, though we can't help but wonder whether their friend could wind up getting in trouble now this story has gone viral.

Regardless, this just shows that Reddit can (sometimes) be a reliable source for inside intel...

I know if I were one of the higher ups at Disney I'd get the best hit man on the job and make sure this never happens again lol

Well considering people didn’t seem to believe him then, until now, may as well let the matter go.

I was kinda expecting it to be another Y- name, but Grogu seems fine too. Together with Din, I'll still be calling them Baby Yoda and Mando though.

Also, I kinda do wonder who that stunt man is that told one of his mates.

@bkmeijer - I don’t think it was a stunt man at all. In the original Reddit post he had to change up the source details to be given the go ahead to leak the info.

@Cbmfilmjunkie - makes sense. Didn't expect that though, that even on Reddit source protection is a thing

Should have just let people call it baby yoda. Would have been better just not bring it up, adds nothing and is a dumb name, even for Star Wars

@Twenty23Three - people can still call him baby yoda.

A friend/client of mine did the hair, make up and costuming on season 2, she let a couple things slip about the show when I was tattooing her daughter a couple months ago. I’ll never say what she said cause I would never risk her career after how hard she worked to get where she’s at. What sucks is if it wasn’t for Covid she would have invited me on the set for a visit. 🤬👎💔

I don't think you know what "reliable" means. "Sometimes reliable" is better known as "unreliable." Something can be an unreliable source and still occasionally be right.

I guess he can feel vindicated. Had I read that, I would have called bullshit like most people probably did at the time.

People with inside information need to learn to keep things to themselves. The list of stuntmen who worked on both seasons 1 and 2 has to be pretty short. You can easily get someone in trouble.

@tazmaniak - not to mention they don’t “deserve a lot of credit for sharing this information.”

People who spoil stuff should get their asses kicked.

@tazmaniak - True, but what if one of the leakers blamed a stuntman while his friend or friend of a friend was actually a grip or a PA.

Great...another reason to start posting every rumor posted on Reddit and pass it off as news here

Grow goo. Grog you. An overly cute name would've been much worse anyway. Grover>Elmo.

Maybe he needed something a bit off to contradict his mind flaying cuteness.
