The latest episode of The Mandalorian has drawn a mixed response from fans, with those huge celebrity cameos proving to be a little too much of a distraction for some.
They were, however, good fun and delivered some memorable moments. With only two instalments left before season 3 concludes, it's definitely time for the Disney+ series to up the ante and deliver a satisfying conclusion that offers a better idea of exactly where this show is taking us (something that's massively important with such big gaps between seasons).
While the cameos aren't given the spotlight in this new batch of concept art and stills from "Guns For Hire," we do get to revisit a number of key scenes and characters from the Bryce Dallas Howard-helmed episode.
One big talking point not heavily featured is what happened with the Darksaber in this chapter's closing moments.
In order to help Bo-Katan Kryze bring the rest of the Nite Owls into the fold, Din Djarin admitted that he's the rightful wielder of the Darksaber after what happened in "The Mines of Mandalore" and gave up the blade to his newfound ally.
Bo-Katan had to get through Simon Kassianides' Axe Woves before that moment, of course, and the actor reflected on that clash in an interview with Vanity Fair (via SFFGazette.com).
"I imagined he lost a lot of loved ones during The Purge and uses his pain to fuel his attacks," he explains. "He’s a natural leader in his own right, evident in the army of Mandalorians who’ve now chosen to follow him as mercenaries rather than stay loyal to Bo Katan. It’s also evident in how fierce his and Bo’s fight is."
"They do not hold back, something Katee and I were passionate about. I mean, we're flying all over the set. It's brutal. There's jet packs, we are in the air, we're colliding into the ships. It's no small fight and we each hold our ground until the end."
