Disney and Lucasfilm have cut ties with Gina Carano following her controversial social media posts, and that means no more Cara Dune in The Mandalorian. It also seemingly means no more Cara Dune action figures, as a report from well-respected Star Wars action figure website, Yak Face Forums, points to Hasbro putting the character in Carbonite.
"In light of the recent events surrounding the character of Cara Dune, we’ve received word that the planned reissues of the 6" Black Series and Vintage Collection figures have been cancelled," the site reveals. However, there's some good news for fans of the character because, "Hasbro still intends to release the Retro Collection version as planned."
That's probably because those figures are made and ready to be shipped to stores, and to cancel their release would result in significant losses. It's easy enough to alter plans to reissue previously released action figures, though, and that likely means one of two things.
There's either going to be a shortage of Cara Dune action figures, thereby driving up the price and desirability for collectors, or we'll soon see these collectibles filling up bargain bins for 99 cents each.
In their recent statement about the firing, Lucasfilm said: "Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."
Carano has since responded, and will release her own, independent movie - a far cry from starring in one of the most popular TV shows on the planet.
We're guessing this will be her last action figure too...
