The Mandalorian has featured plenty of surprises since first arriving on Disney+, from Baby Yoda to the Darksaber and even Ahsoka Tano's live-action debut in the show's second season.
That episode set the stage for the character's upcoming spinoff series (a sequel to Star Wars Rebels), while we later got to see Ahsoka cross paths with Luke Skywalker in The Book of Boba Fett earlier this year. Now, concept artist Brian Matyas has shared an early design for The Clone Wars breakout's jump from animation to live-action, and she looks quite a bit different here.
Rosario Dawson would eventually play Ahsoka, of course, though this artwork was clearly created prior to her being cast. Matyas explains that "[Dave] Filoni liked the grey costume palette of the previous post so I kept with that theme here keeping the cut of the fabric clean and graphic."
The costume we did see in The Mandalorian was quite a bit darker, but there are elements here that did make it into the series. Ahsoka looked very much the same in The Book of Boba Fett, though we'd bet on the beloved character getting another new look when she returns in her upcoming solo project.
Very little has been revealed about Ahsoka, though the expectation is that it will follow Anakin Skywalker's former apprentice as she hunts down Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger alongside Sabin Wren. Recently, we learned that Hayden Christensen will also make an appearance in the series.
