Lucasfilm held a press event for The Mandalorian in Los Angeles over the weekend, and those in attendance got to see 27 minutes of footage from the first ever live-action Star Wars TV series.

The initial reactions are now online, and to say they are very positive would be an understatement. Some might be considered a little hyperbolic - especially taking into account that the entire pilot episode wasn't even shown - but this is still a very good sign that Jon Favreau and co. have nailed it, and it sounds like Star Wars fans will be very happy.

There were some cuts in the footage in order to prevent any major spoilers leaking, but some of these Tweets do hint at a few surprises, so if you want to go in knowing as little as possible it might be best to stop reading here.

Positive sensitive. Is it real cinema though? That's what I'm waiting on to judge it

Ben Mekler didn't see it; his whole schtick is that he does fake, over-the-top reactions as soon as the embargo breaks

@tmp3 - he's admitted to this?

@MyCoolYoung - Yeah, on a few different occasions. He makes them intentionally hyperbolic so people know he's joking, but some people think they're real all the same

@tmp3 that's crazy. Well I guess it works. People actually pay attention to him

@MyCoolYoung - I mean it's not his fault that sites pick up his joke tweets as real reactions haha. Some of them are quite funny too

I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan in general, but this looked good from the beginning.

I'm glad to hear it looks like a well made big budget film. The cinematic experience continues to be blurred from silver screen to the home.

Old studio westerns of the 40’s and 50’s with a dash of samurai movie vibes mixed in a Star Wars-y blender.

But honestly, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if The Mandalorian hits a new peak for Star Wars. It really does look that good.

Fans will compare this to the Rise of Skywalker...I wonder which will come out on top?

@ElJefe - If those TROS leaks are true, then this'd have to be incredibly bad to not come out on top
