If you're a collector of physical media, then streaming titles are likely something you've grown to resent. While some TV shows and movies do receive Blu-ray releases, the majority don't, and that includes Lucasfilm's Star Wars offerings on Disney+.
However, that's finally changed as Disney has now confirmed plans (via SFFGazette.com) for The Mandalorian season 1 and season 2 to hit Collector's Edition 4K UHD and Blu-ray. Those will feature Steelbook packaging, concept art cards, and some never-before-seen bonus features.
We don't currently have a list of special features, but both sets are currently a few months away from being released in stores. However, based on Loki's upcoming home entertainment debut, we can look forward to at least a few new deleted scenes and featurettes.
Star Wars The Mandalorian: The Complete First Season is heading our way on December 12, while Star Wars The Mandalorian: The Complete Second Season arrives the same day.
Similar to the MCU's Disney+ offerings, we don't know if the plan moving forward is for all of Disney+'s Star Wars streaming titles to be released in this manner.
There's been no mention of The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, for example, and we'd bet the streamer will wait a good 2+ years between streaming debuts and subsequent physical media launches. The Mandalorian season 3 has to be a given down the line, but that may hinge on how well these do.
For some fans, the show's third season was a tad underwhelming; however, it was an important next step for Din Djarin and Grogu, with the stage ultimately set for the duo to get back to weekly adventures which aren't bogged down by the wider Star Wars mythos.
Here's hoping the prequel and original Star Wars trilogies eventually get SteelBook releases as well! For now, check out a closer look at these releases below.
