The Disney+ Cassian Andor series was scheduled to commence production in London this June and continue filming through December, but like pretty much every other currently shooting or in-development project, it's been delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the guys over at The Illuminerdi have got their hands on an updated synopsis which give us a slightly better idea of what to expect from the Rogue One spinoff.

"Follows the adventures of Rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Diego Luna will reprise the role of Andor, which he originated in the 2016 film. The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire."

While light on plot details, the logline does seemingly set the tone, and it sounds like Disney+ and writer/director Tony Gilroy plan on taking us on an espionage-heavy journey through the more shadowy recesses of the galaxy far, far away.

The Americans producer Stephen Schiff will serve as showrunner on the untitled series, which was set to premiere at some point next year. Of course, that's all up in the air now, but we'll keep you updated on any further developments.

I'll definitely watch it.
Cassian said I had to.

Premise sounds really cool, but my main concern is still that it won't be a generic story set in the Star Wars universe (that for example the story could be about the Resistance instead of the Rebellion without having any meaningful differences)

The Americans lowkey was the best show on tv for years. Good get there. And Luna is killing it on Narcos. Cassian didn’t interest me much in Rogue One but maybe a show can do that. All the pieces are there.

How can something be "Rousing" when it stars Cassian? I don't get it

Sounds like fun. It’s certainly getting overlooked (understandably) because of excitement for The Mandalorian and Kenobi. But I think it has a lot of potential.

Honestly, if they were looking for an amazing spy story, they should've looked to SWTOR's spy class story and taken parts of it. That story was by far the best SWTOR ever did.

The least interesting character from Rogue One gets a spin-off.

This is a cool concept, but it could've been Kyle Katarn. Cassian Andor is one of the most bland characters in Star Wars. Up there with prequels characters, so I don't have much investment in this
