Rebooting Venom

Rebooting Venom

Remember when Venom used to be cool? Yeah, me too.

When the inexplicable symbiote composed by extraterrestrial parasites was discovered by Spider-Man on a far off planet during the "Secret Wars", readers were intrigued by the new look and new strength of the wall crawler, but little did we know what was really to be expected by this obscure black substance, which was in fact one of the most uncanny, bloodcurdling, and spine chilling Marvel villains.

Sadly all good things must come to an end, and Spider-Man 3 made sure of that. Out of anyone, ANYONE who could've played Venom they picked Topher Grace. The jobless pothead who lived at home with his mommy. It had to have been a very small auditioning to pick someone who is smaller than Tobey Maguire. Everyone was so amazed at the fact that he looked so different. Yeah he went from bowl cut nerd to "I went to the gym one day out of the week", blonde haired Californian. As drastic of a change that is, it doesn't mean it was a good change, and certainly not a good enough change to play Eddie Brock.

Now I didn't make this article to completely trash Topher Grace(not ENTIRELY), but with the new film "The Amazing Spider-Man" coming out, and depending on how well it does, might spark more Marc Webb Spider-Man films. Hopefully if they do make a sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man they'll decide to do Venom right this time around. Get someone who can capture that essence of pure evil, that fear, and all the hate. Someone like....

Honestly when I think Venom, I think of a huge behemoth, I picture the built tyrant I used to see in the old comics. If I got to choose to play Eddie Brock, I would say Brock Lesnar. He seems like he fits the part so well. He's freakishly big, and he would look like a straight monster standing up against Andrew Garfield. I feel like he could easily capture the savage horror I expect from Venom. I assume Brock Lesnar doesn't really have any sort of acting range, other than what he's done for WWE. Easy fix though that I believe everyone would like, just give Venom more screen time instead of Eddie, which is what Spider-Man 3 should have done.

Now that we've talked about that and got it out of the way, I think it's time to bring up the two most critical questions people have.

First! Did Venom survive the explosion at the end of Spider-Man 3?

Yes. And he was blasted back to the 70's and is working part time at Fatso's Burger.

And the secondly, did Topher Grace survive the same explosion?

Also true, but I don't have to tell you what's happening to him.

Alright so if you guys liked the article then give me that thumbs up. Should have my new article up next weekend. If you have any other ideas for a new Venom then post them below. Comment! Comment! Comment! I love the feedback.

So an almost worthless editorial that should have been posted on April Fools or something. Stop drinking and smoking and do something worthwhile. Thumbs down.

@TheWorldisYours & GoblinBomber: I'm only negative when worthless articles or articles made to complain are in the editorial section. If you guys were posting something constructive then I wouldn't have anything bad to say, and I wouldn't be ranting. Also @GB I didn't even think your article was funny just stupid. Did I say that? No. some people may have thought it was funny but personally I think you were just drunk or tired or something.

@intruder: The first time I clicked on this article was because I didn't know it was going to be so bad. Then, I continued clicking on the editorial afterwards because I had made a comment, and I was simply seeing if anybody was replying to my comment (as I always do). Oh and guess what people, including you, are replying so I reply back. As a matter of fact two people in this comment's section had a conversation about me. It's simple as that. Besides don't act like you've never been negative on this site.

@golden123 i expect negative comments every once in a while. the mature thing to do is just disagree. but i expect someone to act childish. you're getting annal over a COMIC BOOK website brah brah! Its not even false information. It was just for sh!ts and giggles. but since you hate it so much i should probably take it down....or just make more of them. either or.

Great article, and the ending was hilarious.

1 thing I disagree with though; Eddie doesn't need to be played by someone massive (not that he should be as scrawny as Topher was) but they could make Venom CGI, like the Incredible Hulk, thus making it look like the Symbiote makes Eddie bigger as Venom.

Okay so now I was pissed off? Overexaggeration much? Glad to know you're going to make more of these so I can just skip over all your editorials and watch the downfall of this section of the website from a distance (thats if there are people annoying enough to follow in your footsteps.

@TheWorldisYours: I'll give you a break since you've only been here since January but you should really read more comments. If the editorial is even decent I will say positive and constructive critiscm, but once again this editorial had little to know substanc in it. Also I'm more than sure you're basing all of these comments you've read from me on your editorial and this one's comments section.

@golden123: I just read this editorial over again and it's not nearly as bad as you make it out to be. I have a lot of respect for you because some folks on this site do post trash. I see a lot of half baked editorials on this site, and you call people out on them. For that you should be commended. Lord knows, you have said good and bad things about my thoughts. But this article was not that bad so chill out man. And by the way, I'm curious are you a teacher or editor for some publication. I mean no offence in asking that. You just always seem to very thouroughly critique things on here in a way people like that would.

Lesnar as Venom would be able to pick up Garfield with ease too, no CGI. But would the Incredible White Hulk be able to put up a good performance on the big screen?

Awesome Stuff GoblinBomber!

Lesner is a great choice for the look, he certainly is big enough. However, I am not very confident in his acting ability.

The key for Eddie Brock being successful in this trilogy: Development. If he has no development, no one will care what happens to him. In the case of fans, when he gets blown up by a pumpkin bomb... well u know. Introduce Eddie in The Amazing Spider-man as a photographer, perhaps before Parker gets a job there. Maybe since Peter is friends with Connors, as Spider-man he seeks to protect his secret, and that means stopping someone like Eddie from getting the scoop. anyone remember the 90's cartoon?

hmm.... i'd love to see eddie brock in the second film!!! but lets not beat around the bush he was never pure evil mate!!! he and the symbiote fealt like parker had done him wrong. if he was in it i'd like to see some character development i.e eventually become anti-venom
