VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE - Tom Holland Reacts To Opening Night With An Intriguing Question

Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland has taken to social media to celebrate Venom: Let There Be Carnage's opening, asking a question that will set more than Venom's tongue wagging. Spoilers follow...

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS FOLLOW!

Venom: Let There Be Carnage has arrived in theaters, and it's a movie that has left fans with lots to discuss, particularly when it comes to the world-breaking post-credits scene. Now, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland has taken to Instagram to tease fans with what could follow.

With Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock now in the MCU, a meeting with Spider-Man is inevitable. We don't think it will happen in Spider-Man: No Way Home, though it would be a surprise for the stage not to be set for their encounter in some way (even if it's just with another post-credits scene).

"Tonight's the night. Can't wait to see this," Holland says in his Instagram Story. "Congrats Andy Serkis, Tom Hardy, and Sony Pictures. Are the rumors true? 😏" The actor has to know that, yes, the rumours are true and the wheels are finally in motion for his version of the web-slinger to cross paths with one of the comic book Peter Parker's greatest adversaries.

Whether that'll happen in Spider-Man 4 or Venom 3 obviously remains to be seen for the time being.

In our review of the Marvel Comics adaptation, we said: "Venom: Let There Be Carnage is the ultimate Marvel movie; seeing Venom and Carnage clash is a comic book fan’s dream come true, but the epic action is bolstered by incredible visuals, some big laughs, and a surprising amount of heart."

If Jamie Fox is to believed, it’s a 1 movie deal, so everything will be “fixed” by the end of the third act and Venom like all the other Sony villains will be back in their own universe(s)…

Cool they will cross paths, but I am not expecting this to be a permanent change.. Though it might be how Venom finally finishes his look and get the white spiders on his chest and back..

@TheMandalorian - yeah, never expected it to go past one film. And if the leaks are to be believed we're gonna get some build up to an mcu version of Norman Osborn at least, possibly some of the rest too.

@TheMandalorian - I don’t know, Electro being a one and done deal makes sense, but that’s because Electro couldn’t generate 850 million at the box office…

A Venom and Spider-Man movie with Tom Hardy and Tom Holland?

@TheMandalorian - I don't know about that. They will almost assuredly have some kind of reason for Venom staying in the MCU after NWH. Mainly because Venom likely won't have any part to play in NWH, and if he does, it will certainly not be a big part. If they try to jam Venom into that movie they will make the same mistake as Spider-Man 3.

So, at most, Venom has a cameo in NWH. All the other villains go back to their respective worlds, but Venom stays behind so they can do their big Spider-Man/Venom movie.

And I won't be the least bit surprised if their meeting is something like this: Venom starts hunting Spider-Man because he thinks he's a murderer and criminal. He learns that it's all BS and sees that Peter is a true hero that Venom has been trying to be in both of his movies. He ends up putting the white spider on his chest out of admiration for Spider-Man and his heroic qualities.

And all the fans will weep in sorrow.

@CorndogBurglar -

That.......actually doesn't sound terrible?

I've hated pretty much everything about what Sonys done with the Venom IP (dating back to 07) but if we're gonna get the shit sandwich no matter what, at least the scenario you laid out would give us some BBQ sauce to dip it in

@OmegaDaGrodd - Haha. Well....for me, that's kind of a best case scenario thing. I don't see it getting any better than that.

I'm far from a purist, but for me, the Spider-Man/Venom relationship is basically sacred. It's just one of those stories that can't be done better than what was already done in the comics, so it shouldn't be changed drastically. They can change settings and some events, but at the end of the day, it should be the symbiote joining with Peter, Peter rejecting it, and some kind of falling out with Eddie to cause both Brock and the symbiote to merge two beings that hate both Peter and Spider-Man into one being.

Then they can work toward them teaming up for things over time. But if went even the route I'm making up here, it just feels cheapened and forced too quickly.

@OmegaDaGrodd - that was the definition of terrible. That's not what their story is, even a little. That's not who the characters are or remotely the story they have. Brock hates Peter for ruining his life and the symbiote feeds of that hate because it's angry at better too for abandoning it. Brock and Venom bind over their hate for Peter Parker, that's the arc. That's Venom. Then Venom slowly pollutes Eddie's mind until they are essentially one in the same.

"We are Venom."

It was meant to be allegorical for addictions, obsession and self destruction.

But sure, this buddy cop slap stick Venom wanting to be a vigilante and confusing Spiderman as a bad guy then realizing he's really good and putting a Spider on his chest when he goes back to his universe is also an equally quality story that actually doesn't sound that terrible.......

Are you freaking kidding me here?

@ElricReturns -

That'd be the "definition of terrible" if you were planning a crossover from the start.

But that's not the place we find ourselves right now. In the reality we live in, we have a bastardized Venom being shoved across the multiverse into the middle of a Spider-Man story featuring a Spider-Man who's never met the symbiote before.

So when dealing with the parts we have instead of the ones we'd have in an ideal world, I'd definitely be able to stomach Cordons story because it would at least be narratively consistent with whatever the Venom movies are stumbling through at a character level while giving dramatic weight to their bullshit, and would also be a semi interesting flip on the more traditional dynamic between Spidey and Venom

@TheMandalorian - the only permanent change at the end of the film is that Spider-Man is going to be trapped in the Sonyverse with “no way home” to the MCU.

After watching Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Ofcourse this more than likely means nothing, but I'm gonna take this as Venom appearing as the sixth Sinister Six member in No Way Home.

And I'm actually fine with that, bring over some villains Spider-Man isn't gonna fight in the MCU and chuck them away at the end again (do hope we get Ock and Norman though in the future).

@bkmeijer - I wonder if that's how Tobey's Spiderman gets involved. To break Venom off of Peter since he defeated the Venom variant of his world before he knows the weakness of the symbiote.
