Speaking to Tv Store Online, actor Brian Tee talked about the second season of Mortal Kombat: Legacy and what fans should expect from Liu Kang. Tee shared that initially he wasn't too keen on playing Liu Kang because he's been a fan of the franchise since he was a kid but his favorite characters to play with were Scorpion and Sub-Zero. What changed his mind? "I read the script and it completely blew my mind. I mean they complete flipped Liu Kang on his head. He's so dark but yet you understand why he is the way he is. He's riding the line between both the Earth Realm and Outworld. There's so much death in the story and the characterization is so incredible. I knew once I read it that I had to be a part of it."

Brian expanded more on Liu Kang being more of a dark character in Tanchareon's fresh take on the Mortal Kombat story adding, "After I read the script and had some discussions with the director, we decided to really strip down his image and start from the ground up. We wanted to start with his back story so people could see where he came from and why he's become what he is now.

When you watch the series and see what he went through that caused him to turn into what he is now, it's no different then something that happens in our own personal lives where something tragic happens, and how that can really change someone or how they think. Any and all reasoning can go out the window when someone has to endure a tragedy. That's what happened to Liu. So that's how I approached it. I just tried to connect with those ideas. I just tried to make him really human and real. I truly want people to relate to Liu. I want audiences to say 'He's a real guy. He's relatable, and while I don't approve of what he's doing, I understand why he's that way.'"

Mortal Kombat Legacy Season 2 is expected to debut this summer on Machinima.com.

The Mortal Kombat Legacy continues in Season 2 as Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Kenshi, and Ermac join the ranks. The rivalries and histories of these fierce warriors will unfold as Raiden and his recruits clash against the dark forces of Outworld. The epic battle for Earthrealm has finally begun.

This actually looks really good.

I guess they must've acquired a higher budget. The 1st season began to fall off as it continued. I'm not sure if it had to do with budget or script, but this one looks pretty cool.

How come Jax isn't here though?

season 1 wasnt bad, but not that great. the raiden episode was good but it felt more like a cheap storm than raiden. for once i didnt agree that realism suited better than fantasy. mk is pure fantasy, for crying out loud
i did love the season finale with cyrax and sektor

season 2 seems to revamp a lot of stuff, like the elder shang tsung... very nice choice. what was the deal with that hiro shang tsung stopping time >_>

Can't wait. Loved season 1. These are a prefect lead in to the feature film, as you wouldn't have to spend a lot of time on back story.
