Spider-Man has had a bunch of games over the past years. Spider-Man for the PlayStation being one of the most famous. Spider-Man 2 was also a hit with fans. Fast forward to 2008, where Spider-Man: Web of Shadows came out. That game didn't sit well with fans. Most sites give it a rating of 6 and lower. I for one thought it was one of the best games of all time. Now, the question is, how does Shattered Dimensions fare against all this? Read on.

I'll be the first to say it. Shattered Dimensions isn't nearly as cool as Web of Shadows, but it's still an awesome game. The developers succeeded in making it seem like four games in one.

Playing as Amazing is similar to the past Spider-Man games. Playing as Noir is one of the coolest things I've ever done in gaming. The whole spy-feel is just epic. Playing as 2099 has a very "free" atmosphere. The level designs for 2099 is breathtaking. And finally, playing as Ultimate feels like a mixture of Spider-Man and Venom from the Ultimate Spider-Man game.

The gameplay is similar to the past Spider-Man games. Each combo is exciting for each Spider-Man. Nothing beats destroying enemies with the Symbiote. Also, the inclusion of first-person gameplay was neat.

The plot itself is simple. I was hoping for more cutscenes. I was kinda surprised that Mysterio was the main villain, since he was used in Friend or Foe. He makes a fine villain.

One of the cons was that there should have been more levels. Thirteen levels is good, but I would have loved some more Noir levels.

I know a lot of you won't agree with me on this, but does Spider-Man have to crack a joke every sentence? Another thing I liked about Web of Shadows was that he was a lot more serious.

My favorite level is the Carnage one. Nothing beats going through a symbiote-infested helicarrier.

In closing, Shattered Dimensions is an awesome game. All Spidey fans will enjoy it.

I give this game a 8/10.

I'm playing this game too...I love all the voice actors in it...I do agree more levels is a must, perhaps we will see that as DLC....also the challenges are gonna make this game about re-playability along with the alternate suits. Did you notice that the levels all centering around each spidey essentially chasing the villain through the level and having two fights, basically a mid-boss and final boss segments. I like how its also not about free roaming...this to me is a great sequel to the PS1 Spider-man game

I haven't played this one yet, but I totally agree that Web of Shadows kicked butt! To this day I don't get why it was so underrated...

PS: I was hoping we'd get a sequel. At least the same game play mechanics...

Man i'd LOVE to finally UNDERSTAND why so many LOVE Web of Shadows and why so many HATE it! I haven't played it myself but i'd REALLY like to know before buying it for myself.

@Shama...from what I heard the games city frame rate jumps oddly and Spidey's voice is unbearable.

@Destroyer14 the main problem with SM:WOS is that while i agree spidey was more serious still 4
1. i hated the guy voicing him
2. when they where serious i don't think they got the mood right (to me) like the whole game was supposed to be dark and gritty but yet most of the levels took place in the day time and this didn't make the mood dark... and then to the next point
3. the cut scenes came off to me corny...

conclusion i liked the basic plot of SM:WOS but the game developers totally executed the game...

Spiderman dead from insecticide.

IMO

SM:SD was great to me... it had a simple plot but was well done to me i'm nearly finished with it and it has been a fun ride all the way... the voice cast is superb and i really loved spidey smarting off the whole time...

the only things that i didn't like about it is the same things ign didn't like about it... u can watch their review

but this is IMO and this means no disrespect to u... i just wanted to explain my opinion, and i respect ur opinion... and i also want to say that that was an awesome review dude!

and i'm glad u used my pic! ;)

i actually have that pic as my desktop background right now! :)

just finished SM:SD. glad to see a spiderman game that went outside the box. glad to get rid of the sandbox gameplay. sometimes roaming new york gets a little boring.

Pros: semi-linear gameplay
voice acting
action
animation (especially amazing and noir)
levels are really just one long boss fight
Cons: short
camera is aweful at times
would have liked to be able to change into alternate costumes whenever i damn well please, instead of before or after the level.

Overall: 8/10

I see how 2099 incorporated the aerial game play created by WOS, and I saw it in a few other levels as well in SD. THAT, and the Ebony/Original suit flip was what made WOS awesome to me. All in all though. SD looks like a solid game that has a lot of button mashing action, but not a lot of depth. It's a good Spider-Man game (which is good), but I'd like to see a GREAT Spider-Man game. I know it's a crazy idea, but I'd like to see an online version of Spider-man, where fights take place in the Playstation home. Users can pick their option of being available to this, and how often they'd like to participate while in PS home. Take an enemy like Carnage for example. As a bystander in the PS home, you can be transformed by him to help a real person take Spiderman down for store cred or something. You could also stay in a lobby (like fight night) and wait for each online Spider-Man to come in and try to defeat you as a main Villain. I KNOW this is going waaaaay outside of the box, but I'm tired of seeing graphic upgrades with the same gameplay. Is Sony hiring????
