GOTHAM KNIGHTS Gets A New Gameplay Video As Warner Bros. Confirms It Will Skip Last-Gen Consoles

A new 13-minute gameplay video for Gotham Knights has been released, and while it's full of reveals, it's accompanied by the disappointing news that it will be skipping the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

When Gotham Knights was first revealed to the world, we were told the game would be available on all major platforms. Well, after a number of delays caused by the pandemic, Warner Bros. has confirmed that it will only be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This means it will no longer be available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One when it arrives in stores on October 25.

The reason given for these last-gen ports being scrapped is to "provide players with the best possible gameplay experience." No further details were given, but we have to assume that the studio can no longer devote the necessary time to creating last-gen versions of Gotham Knights. There have been enough delays, after all, and current consoles and PC should probably be a priority.

In other news, we also have a 13-minute gameplay trailer taking a closer look at Nightwing and Red Hood. We learn more about what it will be like to take control of these characters, as well as the sort of open-world activities we can expect. Hopefully, a new look at Batgirl and Robin will be shared in due course, though it doesn't sound as if more from Gotham Knights will be shared until Summer Game Fest.

@PapaSpank54 - Exactly...that's what I want, another Batman project (film, tv, etc) WITHOUT Batman. I still cringe when I think of what I saw in Titans. Bruce would never do anything we saw on that show. Even if he would, the story/writing didn't warrant it.

Red Hood leaping off energy platforms makes no [frick]ing sense.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Yeah it's really strange. It reminds me of the Marvel's Avengers game giving Kate Bishop teleportation powers.

Strange to not release on old-gen since most are still using them given how difficult it is to get a new-gen console. Also we once lived in a time where 80% of games wanted to be CoD. Now 80% of games want to be Fortnight. Not in the least bit intriguing which is a shame given the Arkham series.

At a glance I legit thought the pic was Deadpool.

It's a start. Still looks like it was developed to run on them though. PS5 is never going to be fully unleashed if they have to keep chaining the games to last-gen. It has few enough exclusives as it is. But of course the shortage of consoles is not helping them to break free. So... it's complicated.

It kinda looks like playing an Arkham challenge map continuously. Yeah they were fun for a bit, but I really don't see this as a sustainable gameplay model for a service game. Atleast the story seems fun

@bkmeijer1 - Nah Arkham challenge maps looked much more fun with better mechanics.

It looked fit for old gen to me.. too bad.
Unless they pull a Godfall and drop the old gen versions when the game doesn't sell as much as they want.
