Mark Wahlberg Still Saying He Will Play Nathan Drake In Uncharted

After a producer of the game denied that Wahlberg is a sure thing to play Nathan Drake in a movie adaption of the popular Uncharted video game series, Wahlberg is still claiming otherwise and even gives us a potential start for filming...

Is seems that marky ma...Mark Wahlberg, contrary to word from the games producer is still a sure thing for the role of Nathan Drake in Uncharted. In an interview with Movie Hole Wahlberg reiterates that he is still in the movie along with Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro.

Firstly, Wahlberg is indeed – despite the incessant requests to see Nathan Fillion cast instead – set to play Nathan Drake in the feature film version of Playstation game series “Uncharted“.

There’s suggestion’s Wahlberg’s not a lock, even talk that the film’s nowhere near happening, but according to the actor it’s happening… and sometime mid-year.

”David O’Russell is writing right now and hopes to direct”, Wahlberg says. “It’s myself, Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro”.

The musician turned actor says they’re “hopefully going to shoot it in the Summer time”.

To any Wahlberg haters or Fillion supporters it seems your hopes may indeed have come to an end. Wahlberg has claimed to be locked into the project several times and his latest movie The Fighter was helmed by director David O’Russell and is gaining plenty of positive and Oscar worths buzz that may act as a reason for O. Russel to reuse Wahlberg.

Uncharted has no release date but if Wahlberg is indeed speaking the truth then a summer start date for filming should be in line.

Should be Nathan Fillion or David Boreanaz, just like it should have been for Green Lantern. But no A listers like Reynolds and Wahlberg get the damn role. I have faith in Reynolds for GL but what the hell is Wahlberg going to do with the Nathan Drake role that others couldn't do a million times better. I like Wahlberg but this is just not a role I want him for

Nathan Fillion for Nathan Drake

The Fighter isn't the only Russel movie Wahlberg has been in. He was also in Three Kings and I Heart Huckabees. In fact, Russel regularly gets Wahlberg's best performances. He may not look as exactly like the character as Fillion does, but I have no doubt that he'll be great, and that this could (FINALLY!) be a good video game movie.

Im still going with that Marky Mark is NOT going to be Drake. Nolan North IS Drake and is the only one who can play him

God you guys are whiny. Waaa, the actor I want didn't get it, waaa it'll totally suck if it isn't done my way (nevermind the fact that Russell is a great director and that Wahlberg can be great with the right material). What, you don't think he can crack wise? Didn't you [frick]ers see THE DEPARTED?

Seriously, we're getting OSCAR-CALIBER TALENT attached to a [frick]ING VIDEO GAME MOVIE. Would you rather it was being made by Uwe Boll or Paul W.S. Anderson? Count yourselves lucky mother[frick]ers.

I don't like Wahlberg for the role, but I don't think Fillion would be good either. To me Joe Flanigan is Drake

I dont see either Wahlberg or Fillion in the role!

David Boreanaz would be much much better!

So if this turns out to be true, can we assume that they are also going to go with the horrible plot idea that there is a "family that's a force to be reckoned with in the world of international art and antiquities"?

@spidey hahaha LOL, love it man... ah i dont know how to attach links or pictures, but have you seen this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHw6fAqEeno&feature=related

@garageninja i think he was perhaps talking about Sir Francis Drake, at least thats what i hope.

People saying Nolan North- sorry to short, and tubby.
Boreanaz is pretty much the same.

If Fillion could get into shape (which IDK) he would be 100% the perfect choice, after all the uncharted casting attention, i finally watched Firefly and Serenity (which are just EPIC btw) and he IS Drake, no 2 ways about it. Unfortunatley in Castle, hes put on some weight.

Mark Wahlberg is a great actor, but he isnt a charming treasure hunter. The Departed, The Fighter quality acting, but it doesnt rely on his charm at all. Hes also just too small, he doesnt have the build.

There are plenty of other fish in the sea. Chris Pine, as stated above, Chris Evans, Paul Walker, James Roday could all pull the character of far better then Mark Wahlberg could. This is, to be frank, a disaster.

Might as well have cast Bill Cosby for Sully (who is BTW Bruce Campbell or J.K. Simmons, NOT Bob DeNiro)

Just say no to UWE BOLL... Not after In the Name of The King... And I think Wahlberg would be great. Shooter is one of my favorite films.

Everyone is reacting to this the same way they were when it was announced that that dude from F4 was playing Captain America. Now everyone loves him in the role. Give Mark a chance.

I like how they said he had nothing to do with the movie, yet he keeps saying he's locked in the role. Is he delusional or what?
Scion

Obviously he is delusional, he keeps making movies. If it wasn't for Amy Addams and Christian Bale the Fighter would have sucked! He should stick to producing.

Marky Mark is a terrible choice!! [frick]!
Kyos
Kyos - 1/8/2011, 5:16 AM
He wasn't the right choice for Max Payne, but I see more Payne in him than Nate Drake (queen of miscasts was of course Mila Kunis as Mona Sax. Seriously?). And what about De Niro and Pesci and this family business nonsense? Damn...

Just for the record, I do like Mark Wahlberg, I just think they should stop casting him as all of my favourite videogame characters.

What's the status of the Kane & Lynch movie anways? Jamie Foxx, gnarrgh!

@flames809- by build, i meant overall face shape, height broadness etc. not physical condition.

And Wahlberg is the same age as Fillion, 39.

__________

Oh God, Fillion has conceded defeat on Twitter

"Facts: Mark Wahlberg rocks the party. I'd love to work for O. Russell. Let'em make a movie with our blessings! http://j.mp/i7nI1V"

flames809

mkn- no what i mean by built is that he is in physical condition cause he still has the body from the fighter. and OK i ain't know they were the same age but even doe they da same age mark looks way younger than fillion.
