It was a big day for Crystal Dynamics and Marvel's Avengers. In addition to launching the next-gen versions of the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and the arrival of Hawkeye with the latest DLC, Operation: Hawkeye – Future Imperfect, Crystal Dynamics laid out a road map of future content.
Most of the content coming in spring and summer are game-related events and special game modes. However, in "summer and beyond," players can look forward to the arrival of Black Panther.
The War for Wakanda expansion will not only include the new playable character, but a new story that will take place in the Wakandan Jungle Biome. A reveal teaser for Black Panther was shared, providing a bit of context for the upcoming expansion. It appears Klaw will lead a new faction of enemies in a war against Wakanda in hopes of securing the valuable Vibranium.
Black Panther will be the third new character to arrive in Marvel's Avengers via DLC. Kate Bishop was added in December, jump-starting a two-part Hawkeye series. That story concludes today with Operation: Hawkeye - Future Imperfect, which brings Clint Barton into the mix. He also comes with a new villain: Maestro, a version of the Hulk driven mad in an apocalyptic future with Bruce Banner’s brains and Hulk’s strengths and abilities, and a time-traveling storyline.
Marvel's Avengers is now playable on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Google Stadia, and PC.
