Paul Denny, a senior programmer at Rocksteady, recently let slip some interesting tidbits about the gameplay in the upcoming highly anticipated sequel to "Batman: Arkham Asylum." Here's what he had to say:
"You could always expand [on Arkham Asylum] and there are games in the past that have gone down that route," said Denning when asked if the game would include other famous Gotham locales. "But I think you're right. Gotham itself is a fantastically realized fictional city and there are so many places that would probably be ideal for gameplay and great to explore."
Also, for many of those gamers who were hoping for a completely free-roaming "sandbox" Gotham, Denning had this to say:
"If Arkham Asylum had been that kind of game I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been as good," said Denning. "I think sandbox games that do that well are so hard to realize; GTA is obviously a fantastic example of one that gets it right but there are so many that get it wrong and I think you have to be so careful when you take that route."
Macksimus - well, looks like freedom of movement in Gotham will be limited to specific locations and not the city entirely. Maybe there will be an "over world" map of Gotham where you can choose which locations to go to.
