The fantastic Batman: Arkham Asylum was the surprise gaming hit of 2009, and now expectation and anticipation for its sequel, Arkham City, is high. More information is coming thick and fast as the game gets closer to its release. One of the features of Arkham Asylum which helped make the game so popular among fans was its excellent challenge mode, which allowed gamers to hone their skills and be the best Batman they could be. The challenge mode returns in Arkham City but, like everything else in the game, has been upgraded and improved. Via arkhamcity.co.uk, the details are as follows:
Combat: Survive waves of enemies as long as you can. Keeping combos going will boost your score.
Stealth: Clear a room of enemies without being detected.
Speed: Reach an Arkham City landmark in as little time as possible.
These challenges can be played as Batman, Catwoman or Robin, and is sure to add to the replay value of the game. If you’ve managed to finish the story mode and defeat the Riddler once again, you can post your Challenge Mode scores on the online leaderboards. In addition to this info, Rocksteady have released more screenshots of Batman and Mr. Freeze in action.
It is clear that Rocksteady have not rested on their laurels and truly raised the bar for Batman: Arkham City. I am eagerly awaiting its release on October 18th, 2011.
