Nolan's BANE found in Arkham Asylum! (UPDATED)

Is Nolan's Bane in Rocksteady's Arkham Asylum? You be the judge!

I was recently in need of a good Batman fix. I have been following all of the Dark Knight Rises stuff and can honestly say that none of it has me very excited. So, I decided to look for my fix elsewhere. I went to my local Gamestop and pre-ordered "Arkham City". The excitement of this quickly wore off as the realization that October 18th is pretty far away.

This of course left me smack in the middle of the same "I need more Batman!" conundrum that I was in before. I did what any rational man would do...

I started playing the original again for 8th time (not exaggerating!)

This time however something stuck out to me. I found myself time and time again fighting a Nolanized Bane!

Ok, well not really, but here have a look for yourself!

Don't the knife wielding henchmen in Arkham Asylum look remarkably like the Nolanized/ Tom Hardy Bane?!

Is this where Nolan found the idea for his (arguably) horrible Bane mask?

What do you think? Are these two separated at birth or has my need for more Batman reserved me a cell at Arkham?

(UPDATED): I found this pic of Arkham Asylum concept art for Bane...

Even these designs have a somewhat similar design to Nolan's Bane (except for the fact that he is actually BIG and bad @$$!). Is it possible that Nolan just got lazy on his TDKR costumes? After this (and Catwoman!) I would say: YES!!!!!

uh no.

the design for Nolan's Bane would have been made AT LEAST an entire year afterward. thats just an inmate. and its not the only one that looks like that.

come on now.

Woodinator - 8/30/2011, 11:01 AM
Corndog: I know dude... That was the point! This was meant to be a lite hearted article pointing out the similarities between the costume design of the inmate and of Nolan's (crappy) Bane design.
Woodinator
Woodinator - 8/30/2011, 11:02 AM
And you have to admit... they almost look identical.

Ha ha it does look oddly similar. Strange. But, nolans bane looks just horrible. I love DC and I love bat man, just he just looks like dung.

I'm not sure. He's some sort of savage prisoner, though.

KaneVonDoom - 8/30/2011, 12:38 PM
Everyone knows it's just a prisoner and that there are quite a few of them, Woodinator was just pointing out the similarity. I was playing Arkham Asylum the other day and thought the same thing.

You people are so dense on this site sometimes and need to actually read.

Wow. So Nolan's ideas aren't original. Makes sense

Heh, that's pretty cool. So it isn't the Attack of the Vin Diesels after all, it's the Attack of the Bane Cooks! :D
Forilaz
Forilaz - 8/31/2011, 10:36 AM
Ridiculous. Nolan has nothing to do with the game, hasn't played it, this one here's just a random henchman. Though I gotta say, I see the resemblance.

Also, how is Bane's mask "horrible"? It's different, but it's quite okay. Tired of the hating towards TDKR, really.

Hail to the King (as well as a few others): Thanks for actually reading the article and not just looking at the pictures! You are apparently one of the few on this site that do. lol

Forilaz: Nolan hasn't played it? You two must be close... VERY close. Which would also explain your defense of that horrible mask.

I like Nolan as much as the next guy. Dark Knight was GOLD! But there has been absolutely NOTHING we've seen that would lead me to believe that TDKR will even be an adequate film.

Bane's long lost brother Freddie! As Crappy as Bane's mask looks, I still believe The Dark Knight Rises will be better than that abombination of a sequel TDK...

AC1 - 8/31/2011, 2:15 PM
maybe the costume designers on TDKR took inspiration from Arkham Asylum. Just because Nolan hasnt played the game, some of his creative team may have. In fact, I think Nolan wouldve asked for a redesign if he knew someone had copied the game (if they had, that is)

Ooh, good find. Nolan probably saw the concept art.

OMG! If you people would read the article instead of just looking at pictures you would see that I KNOW THE GUY ISN'T NOLAN'S BANE! I'm just saying that it's funny that a pointless thug resembles Nolan's version of one of the greatest Batman villains of all time!

to think nolan gets 'lazy' with his costumes is just silly, every part of the bane, catwoman, joker, scarecrow, and ras costumes were chosen specifically for a reason, weather for tone, symbolism, connection to back story plot, or just peice of the character
